👋 Meet the Team – Kim Wright, On-Farm Account Manager

As part of our On-Farm team, Kim spends her days out on the road supporting farmers where they need it most. Whether it’s sourcing the right product, offering advice, or simply being the one they know will answer the phone, Kim’s all about backing our rural communities.

We caught up with Kim to learn more about what drives her, her passion for animal nutrition, and why she’s never ordered a coffee.

What’s your role at Ruralco?
"I’m an On-Farm Account Manager. A typical day doesn’t really exist—every day is different. My focus is always looking after farmers and making sure they get what they need as quickly as possible."

How long have you been part of the Ruralco team?
"Over two years."

What do you love most about your job?
"The team, the variety, and representing Ruralco out in the field."

What’s one thing people might not realise about what you do?
"Animal nutrition is my passion - cows are hands down my favourite animal."

Share a career highlight or memorable moment:
"Finally selling the cattle crush that had been sitting around for five years!"

What have you learned from working with farmers?
"That every farm is different and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. And one thing’s for sure: the farmer is always right."

What do you enjoy about supporting rural businesses and communities?
"Being someone they can rely on. I take pride in being responsive and getting back to my customers quickly."

Piece of advice you live by?
"Inhale the future, exhale the past."

Outside of work: You'll find me spending time with my wife and our baby boy, Oakley.

Fun fact: I love the Warriors and the NRL, and go hunting in my spare time.

Go-to hot drink: I’ve never grown up - still haven’t had a coffee in my life! Just water for me.

Favourite music artist: Shania Twain.

Quickfire round: Dogs over cats | Sunsets over sunrises | BBQ over roast | Autumn over winter, spring, or summer.

If you see Kim out and about, give her a wave - she’s always keen to help and happy to chat. Just don’t offer her a coffee. 😉

👋 Meet the Team – Bess, Retail Assistant – Farm Supplies

Based in our Ashburton store, Bess is one of the friendly faces you’ll see behind the counter helping customers, fielding phone queries, and sourcing the parts you didn’t even know you needed. She's been with Ruralco for just under six months and has quickly become part of the team.

We sat down with Bess for a quick Q&A to learn more about what she does, her love of the outdoors, and a fun fact you might not expect.

What’s your role at Ruralco?
"A typical day is a mix of helping customers, ordering stock, answering phones, sourcing parts, and keeping the shelves topped up."

What do you love most about your job?
"The customers, and learning something new every day."

What’s one thing people might not realise about what you do?
"Sometimes someone brings in a random part with no label or context, and I have to do a bit of detective work to track it down!"

Share a career highlight or memorable moment:
"My first Instore Days were a real highlight - seeing farmers off-farm, having a catch-up, and enjoying a bite to eat with their neighbours was awesome."

What have you learned from working with farmers?
"They’re honest, hardworking, and passionate people through and through."

Piece of advice you live by?
"Just do it."

Outside of work: You’ll find me exploring the outdoors with my horses and dogs.

Fun fact: I’m a hobbyist beekeeper.

Go-to hot drink: Mocha

Favourite music: Anything country

Favourite local spot: I’ve been loving the walking tracks around the area lately.

Quickfire round:
Gumboots over sneakers | Dogs over cats | Sunsets over sunrises | Roast over BBQ | Spring on the farm every time

Next time you're in Ashburton, pop in and say hi to Bess - she might just help you track down that mystery part you’ve been hunting for!

Obsessed With Agriculture

Real People Do Amazing Things In 1963 a group of farmers formed the farming co-op that would become Ruralco. They wanted competitive pricing for their businesses and a sustainable future for tomorrow, and today we’re still obsessed with that vision.

We live in the rural communities we serve. We have straight up conversations with the farmers, contractors, service and support businesses who work together in our local communities. We listen until we understand the needs of the real people who make a living from agriculture. Then we do what we can to make life a little easier.

We do our best on prices. We find answers. We tell the truth. We share experience and knowledge. We connect people with new ideas. We celebrate our heroes and the people that make Ruralco what it is today.

We care about tomorrow. With the deep roots of our co-op structure we give rural businesses the opportunity to source better deals and know that their contributions deliver real value for their local communities, helping to support a sustainable future for New Zealand farming.
