Wayne Huang, in his third term as Rear Commodore (Power) at BBYC, Auckland has been recognised by Yachting New Zealand for his dedication to developing awareness and participation in boating in the wider community and awarded a Yachting New Zealand Service Award in the 2021 Yachting Excellence Awards. A major element being the yachting experiences on Sir Peter Blake's legendary round the world maxi Steinlager II on the Hauraki Gulf through ShareBoating, the first digital boating marketplace.

Jonathan, aged 12, has a great love of sailing and has been posting videos on ShareBoating's YouTube channel as a way to keep in touch with his mates and keep their interest in sailing up over lockdown. He has been posting a number of videos each week to keep his mates inspired, this last week was about windsurfing.

ShareBoating will continue to have weekly themes heading into the summer, from learning to sail to round the world sailing and everything in between!

Lockdown for school children can be pretty boring and place a strain on any normal family. A young local lad has thought better than that and has researched and loaded short video clips on a YouTube channel to keep his mates interested in sailing and simply talking about cool things they like doing....

Today, Saturday September 11th, in Auckland, ShareBoating officially launched its new bilingual YouTube Channel which aims to increase awareness of and participation in water sports and to effectively engage with the wider community across New Zealand. During the second most severe lockdown in New Zealand of 2021, the daily epidemic news is very sobering however we know life can be more exciting with more positive energy. The ShareBoating team, with support from Bruce Kendall, Olympic Sailing Gold Medalist and marine industry leaders, has launched a series of short videos about New Zealand’s history of the America's Cup and the everyday experiences of boating and sailing in New Zealand. Over lockdown 3 and 4, to show commitment in supporting the marine industry, one short video will be posted reach day on ShareBoating’s new YouTube channel.
