Founded in 1988 Flying Kiwi camping and adventure tours have been creating in New Zealand ever since. In 2001 Dennis and Vonnie Christian took over the family business taking it on an award winning journey to today where their passion for getting off the beaten track in New Zealand giving visitors to our great country the most amazing experiences has never wained!

Lupin season is almost here! Believe it or not, despite being famous for these gorgeous purple and pink-hued flowers, they aren't native - although they've made themselves right at home across our South Island!

From mid-November to early January, places like Lake Tekapo, the Mackenzie Basin, and even around Queenstown will be scattered with these colourful flowers 💜

While they make for a beautiful photo, their introduction to NZ was so successful that they actually compete with our native ecosystems.

New Zealand is home to some incredible native birds, and Oamaru's Blue Penguin colony is no exception!

These little legends, also known as Kororā (little penguins), are the world's smallest penguins at just 30cm tall - found only here and in Australia 🐧

As one of our optional tour activities, you can observe their nightly routine after dark. Watch as they return from a day of fishing and make their way up onto the beach and up the stone ramp, while expert guides share facts and insights into the lives of these sweet creatures! ✨

Christchurch is the start and end point for a number of our tours – but before you rush to jump on tour, or wrap up your holiday too quickly, stick around for a couple of days to explore what’s on offer!

Some of our top recs in the Garden City:

🌷 Hagley Park – Over 400 acres of gardens, flowers, lakes, and walking paths to explore. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and a good book, and while away a relaxing afternoon.

🌷 The Terrace – Set on the banks of the Avon River, The Terrace is a lively hub of eateries, bars, and boutique shops right in the CBD. Wander, taste and soak up the atmosphere.

🌷 Hike or Bike the Port Hills – If you’d like to stretch your legs, choose one of the many tracks and trails for panoramic views over the harbour.

🌷 Christchurch Adventure Park – If you’re after a thrill, look no further than the ziplines, mountain bike trails, and scenic chairlifts set about the city.

Have you ever black water rafted in a cave of twinkling glowworms? Well, you can on the Black Labyrinth tour in Waitomo! ✨

This adrenaline-filled adventure will have you floating on an underground river in a tube, jumping off waterfalls and admiring glowworms in the Ruakuri Cave.

It’s an epic optional activity on the North Island leg of our tours – perfect for anyone with a strong sense of adventure (and no fear of the dark 😉)!
