Breaking news

After being involved with HomeLink for nearly 30 years, following HomeLink tradition we are handing over to the next generation and Sarah who has been working in the background for a while will now be your contact person.

Its been a learning curve going from books, hand delivered to Auckland Members , to the IT marvels we have today. I have to say it was a pleasure to get to know Members personally and help them where necessary.

Like several HomeLink countries our family has grown up with knowledge of HomeLink and like the Netherlands, Germany and Canada the next generation is taking over.

Our Local Web site

Since the internet started each HomeLink country has had a Local Web site. We still have one but it had moved places. For ease of access it is now at the top on the Main HomeLink site. It may look different but has all the information from the former site including the monthly Newsletter which is the third item.

A big thank you

I would like to thank all of our loyal Members who have stayed with us during the crisis. I hope you feel as I do that we have an great system that is well designed for pandemics. By exchanging homes, you don’t have to be surrounded by crowds of people to have an amazing holiday. Our Members are lucky to live in holiday areas or main centres but away from crowded hotels and tour groups. We just want to leave our own lovely areas and enjoy someone else’s piece of paradise and as the travel restrictions ease we will be back with a vengeance all over the world.

The fact that we don’t pay for accommodation is unimportant. Ha Ha!

A bit about Sarah

Sarah is a full time teacher and mother of 2 and lives in Auckland. She is looking forward to being more involved with HomeLink but please realise that daytime calls or emails will most likely have to wait until after school !! She has always been of the belief that Home Exchange is ideal for Teachers after all it started in 1953 with 2 teachers on the USA deciding they wanted to exchange homes.

How would you like a 2 week holiday at any tourist region in New Zealand for $180 total.
Since 1953 HomeLink NZ members have this luxury with every holiday they make and they make a lot as you can imagine. Nearly all Members enjoy long haul holidays but right now they have taken Paris, London and New York of their preferred destination list and replaced it with New Zealand and pretty soon this will expand to holidays in Australia for a total cost of $180. In the meantime. They are now starting to spend in your shops, restaurants and tourist ventures.
What’s the catch?………
The only catch is that you need a comfortable Home or Holiday home to exchange in an area where people want to holiday i.e. Tourist spot or a main centre
Paying for top hotels around the world would not be a problem for most Members but they prefer the luxury of staying in a fellow Members home so that they can enjoy…
• A fully equipped house to relax and enjoy
• A welcome gift
• A welcome meal
• A car if necessary
• Sports & recreation equipment
• Being met at the airport
• Often a friend for life.

Mainly retired professional people Members just generally want to be able to do they’re their own thing in a relaxed and pleasant environment. When the time is right they will be off overseas again to enjoy a holiday such as this.

L’Ancienne Epicerie (The old Grocery)
A 200yr old stone built home in the ancient village of Le Mezeray a few kms from Dinan perhaps one of the prettiest medieval walled cities in France with its 15th-century half-timbered buildings and cobbled streets. The home was lovingly restored in the French Provincial style but retaining the glorious original woodwork inside. We so enjoyed our 2 weeks in Brittany before moving on the Paris & London.

HomeLink AU/NZ Gold Medal Members.
It’s February & time for the annual award of Gold Medals. We at AU/NZ award these to Members who have been with us 5 years or more. Interesting to note that there are over 20 who have been Members since the 1990’s. Two of them since 1994.
Our Members get recognition and so do we.
