🗓️ Day 5: Downhill Through the Valleys

The group enjoyed another clear day as they biked out of Tarvisio and back onto the Alpe Adria. A short climb led to a mostly downhill ride, with morning tea in Pontebba and stunning views from the old railway line — smooth gradients, tunnels, viaducts and big valley scenery.

After lunch at a converted train station café, some riders continued higher with Ernst for even better views across the terrain, plus a visit to a Benedictine monastery. They finished the day at Hotel Carnia with drinks, good company and a relaxed dinner featuring local dishes and complimentary wine.

✨ 🚴‍♀️E-Bike: Italy, Austria & Slovenia Tour 🚴‍♀️✨

🗓️ Day 4: Pedalling Into the Alps

The group enjoyed a fantastic day on the bikes, rolling out of town and straight onto quiet trails, minor roads and peaceful country lanes. Austria put on all its charm — small villages, tall steeples and beautifully kept fields framed by forest.

They climbed steadily toward Lake Faak, rewarded with those incredible turquoise‑and‑green views, before continuing beside the River Drava through young forest. A late arrival meant skipping the forest café, but a shady rest stop in Arnoldstein was the perfect place to recharge.

In the afternoon they crossed the old Austria–Italy border, passing derelict buildings that contrasted sharply with the modern highway thundering overhead. Their route took them up shaded hairpins and onto a quiet old road used mostly by cyclists, with sweeping mountain views across narrow valleys and scattered farms.

They finished the day in Tarvisio — happy, tired, and more than ready for hot showers and cool drinks after a brilliant first taste of the Alpe Adria cycle trail.

✨🥾 Off to the Dolomites! 🥾✨

Our 'Walking in the Dolomites' group lifted off from NZ last night and are now winging their way toward Milan, ready to swap long‑haul flights for crisp mountain air and spectacular alpine scenery.

Soon they’ll be wandering through one of Europe’s most dramatic landscapes — soaring limestone peaks, flower‑lined meadows, peaceful valleys and charming Italian villages tucked beneath the mountains. It’s a region made for walkers, where every trail rewards you with views that stop you in your tracks.

Over the coming days they’ll settle into life in the Dolomites: steady climbs, panoramic ridgelines, hearty mountain meals and that wonderful feeling of being surrounded by nature at its grandest.

We can’t wait to share moments from their journey as it unfolds. 🌄📸

🗓️ Day 3: Easy Day on the Austrian Lakes

The group enjoyed a relaxed travel day, leaving Vienna and making their way south to Velden on the Austrian Lakes. With summer holidays wrapping up, the roads were busy but the journey stayed smooth, passing mountain villages and freshly ploughed fields.

Marco and Ernst welcomed everyone with big smiles at Hotel Hubertushof, and the afternoon was free to explore Velden or unwind with a cool drink and a bit of people‑watching. At 4pm the team gathered for a bike briefing and a first test ride - excitement is building as they prepare to cycle west into Italy.

🗓️ Day 2: A Cool Morning in Beautiful Vienna

The group woke to a cooler 24°C in Vienna — a lovely change after the heat. Over breakfast they met their final two travelling companions before heading out to explore.

They wandered through the colourful Naschmarkt, admired the Secession Building and its golden dome, and continued into the old town past the Opera House and up to the Albertina terrace for great city views. At the Hofburg Palace, grand courtyards and statues set the scene… though local Spikeball players stole the spotlight for a moment!

Rain sent everyone hurrying into Demel for a heavenly morning tea of Sachertorte and Apfelstrudel. After some free time in the city, the group met again to catch tram D to the Belvedere Museum, where Klimt’s The Kiss was a highlight.

The day ended with museums, tram rides, hotel time — and a reunion at an Irish pub to watch the All Blacks take on South Africa.

🗓️ Day 1: Hello from Hot & Sunny Dubai

The group arrived in Dubai early morning and were greeted by the heat — thank goodness for air‑con! After settling into the hotel with a late breakfast, most joined Mandy for a relaxed stroll to Dubai Creek and a peaceful boat ride past the Sheikh’s palace to the Gold Souk.

A quick Metro trip to Dubai Mall offered cool air and lunch before everyone headed back for an afternoon rest or swim.

They wrapped up the day with drinks and dinner at the Sherlock Holmes Pub.
First day in Dubai done!

Our Serengeti Safari group departed NZ last night and are now on their way to Dubai before continuing on to Africa.
