Just a week to go before our riders start arriving in the wonderful city of Barcelona, for our 18 day Pyrenees and Gorge du Tarn motorcycle tour, we're starting to get a little excited.

The Pyrenees are one of those places every rider should experience at least once.

This tour blends legendary riding with incredible scenery, hidden villages, dramatic landscapes and enough curves to keep a grin permanently glued inside your helmet.

And yes… there will also be tapas, wine and stories long into the evening.

We can't wait!

Why ride with a local company? Because nobody knows New Zealand quite like the people who live here. 🌿🏍️

At Open Road, this isn’t just a business — it’s our home, our backyard, and the roads we love to ride ourselves.

We’re a small family-run company, and that’s exactly how we like it. No huge convoys or crowded tour groups here — we keep our rides to a maximum of 6–7 bikes so the experience stays personal, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable.

Think of it less as a “tour” and more like riding NZ with a group of mates who know all the best roads, hidden gems, scenic stops, and local favourites.

Meeting the locals can take on a whole different meaning in NZ.

🤔 Did you know NZ has around 26 million sheep — that’s about 5 for every person! 🐑 and about 9 million cows? 🐄 Plus a few highly decorated bovine models!

On tour, you’ll often meet them as farmers move stock along country roads. We always slow down or pull over to keep things safe (and fluffy).

It’s just another one of those only-in-NZ riding moments.

It’s not just there to carry luggage, spare bikes, and supplies — it also has space for a non-riding passenger. So if your partner doesn’t ride, or just wants a day off the bike, they’re welcome to hop in the van.

And remember… what happens in the van, stays in the van! 🙈🙉🙊
