✈️ Important UK Travel Update for 2026!
Planning a UK adventure next year? Heads up – entry requirements are changing!
From 25 February 2026, the UK will enforce its new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system. This means that New Zealand passport holders (and other previously visa-free travellers) will need to apply for an ETA before heading to the UK.
DUAL CITIZENS – Take Note!
If you hold British or Irish citizenship alongside another nationality, you cannot apply for an ETA. Instead, you’ll need to travel on your British or Irish passport.
Example: If you have both NZ and British passport? Use your British passport for UK travel.

Enjoy a faster and more seamless arrival experience into Australia thanks to upgraded SmartGate Technology now at Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

SmartGates are an automated passport control system that use facial recognition and your ePassport to verify identity.

Children over 7yrs are eligible to use gates. For families children under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian and pass through SmartGate between their accompanying adults.

To use SmartGate travellers must have:
Valid ePassport
Be aged over 7yrs
Be taller than 1.1 meters
Have completed an Incoming Passenger Card.
