“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response: A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no…

When you are planning to get yourself an ebike make sure that you look around and check many different models and brands dont go to a one brand retailer but to one that sells a very large range like Bikes and Barbers on new market. Rent an ebike for a day and see how you like it .

After many month I decided to write something about the use of an ebike. As a dutchman I have always seen a bike as means of transport to get to school or work or just getting somewhere not as a sport item or mountain bike . For me you sit upright on a bike which is safer and less tiring you can see more and can be seen easier. So when I got an ebike for myself 6 years ago I picked a simple frame and because I am in my eighties and need safety I picked a bike with 24 inch wheels which gives me a slightly lower bike. I should have picked a 300 watt motor instead of 250 watt so that the hills would be a little easier otherwise with a low instep this is still the best frame in my opinion.By the way last year a million ebikes were sold in Germany and 350.000 in the Netherlands replacing many cars on the roads. Lets hope that our councils will supply many more bike path to keep us safe on our electric twowheelers.

I remember starting Ecyclesnz.com about 6 years ago on waiheke when the ebike was not taken very seriously. Now they are bought by the millions the world over.In Germany and holland they are moving out by the hundreds of thousands and are seen as a solution to reduce the polluting cars on the roads . It is time we are moving the same way. Our local problem is AT is so inefficient with overpaid excecutives without a brain and/or common sense. Get away from your desks and walk , ride and drive all over Auckland and Waiheke .Think of simple low cost solutions dont look at large complicated solution until you have looked at local experience. off your bums out of all these exec. meetings . Look at the Tamiki drive s bike/foot path it is dangerous so people use the road instead. Can you blame them . The Ebikes will be used more and more and they are fast and need more space , think about it ....

Since I last wrote on this site we have had the Lime phenomena and all the pro and against arguments. I feel that the fact of renting these scooters can create problems of inexperienced rider creating havoc . If you buy one you can get some practice in an area where you live and know the road. In New Markets Bike and barbers shop i counted 7 different electric scooters and 1 or 2 other new gadgets . My suggestion is don't buy before you look and try all the different versions. Have fun with your research.

I haven't written on this post for a long time.It is not that I have lost interest in the subject it is just that my drive to want to write has faded a little. There now so many individuals and companies selling bikes that it is difficult to choose where to go and what to buy. Let me make a suggestion how to approach your research . If you go to a seller that just sells one brand which they will obviously recommend as the best or the cheapest or whatever. My recommendation is go to Bikes and barbers newmarket and look at the largest range of bikes in New Zealand from about 2000 to 12000 scooters , electric boards , Sedgeways cruisers ,electric farm bikes you name they have it from Germany Switzerland Italy taiwan Local etc. You will be amazed at what is available on the market now .Top quality Caron fibre framed bikes ,fancy powerful mountain bikes it is all there. I was gobsmacked seeing all these models YOU will be too

I HAVENT WRITTEN HERE FOR A LONG TIME AND JUST LOOKED AT THE BIKE SHOTS OF ABOUT 4 OR 5 YEARS AGO.
A lot of progress has been made on these interfering years and maybe I will study this a little more and comment on the progress or non progress that our representatives have made
on our behalf. It is hard to keep up with the enormous number of new brands that are appearing daily . Don't believe all the hype talk from many salespeople . Talk to more suppliers before you pick something that looks nice with a fancy name but might not the best choice for your circumstances . My suggestion is rent several different Ebikes use them for a day each even if the weather is not ideal . I am sure if you can prove you have hired several the seller will refund you rental charges if you returned the bike in good condition. Try to ride more upright , you will be saver and get less tired . These Danes and Dutch have learned a trick or two over the years Good Hunting Rob
