Kim Payne Travel Broker This is my business page, so you can see travel tips, pics, updates and specials. [email protected] I have been working in Travel since 1994.

Air NZ at Wellington Airport, an Adventure Tour Operator in the UK, STA Travel in Wgtn, Flight Centre 2002-2021. I decided to move to NZ Travel Brokers for a better contract and more product for clients. I have travelled to nearly 80 countries, more recently with bicycle in hand. I love being able to ride my bike in places that are difficult to get by car and to be able to get a grass roots experi

ence. My best memory is cycling through an area in Sierra Leone and coming across a tank in the bush! Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy in 5 star hotels and experienced a few, but also have found a love for camping too. Favorite places? I love everywhere but all time would be Africa - all of it! Italy, USA and Japan. Thank you for following me and your referrals to friends/family's are very welcome and you will be rewarded. Enjoy your travel adventures and thank you for your business so far. It's always appreciated.

Bula! A fresh new way to stay in Fiji is arriving this August 🌴✨

Introducing Sebel Nuku Loaloa Living, a brand-new resort-style apartment property located in the Wailoaloa region between Nadi Airport and Denarau. Designed for both short stays and longer visits, it offers a modern, self-contained option for couples, families, and groups wanting a little more space and flexibility while in Fiji.

Choose from 1 and 2-bedroom apartments or 3-bedroom villas, all featuring kitchen facilities, laundry, Wi-Fi and contemporary interiors inspired by relaxed island living. Guests will also have access to resort-style facilities including a pool, gym, spa, yoga space, pickleball court and all-day dining restaurant.

Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the area, with Wailoaloa Beach, local dining spots and entertainment all nearby. We also understand the resort plans to operate a daily shuttle service connecting guests with Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa at Denarau, offering easy access to the marina and wider Denarau precinct.

Opening 15 August 2026, this looks set to become an interesting new option for travellers seeking apartment-style accommodation with resort facilities in Fiji.

Back on the road as we continue north through Honshu Island, and the scenery up here is simply incredible.

Quiet roads winding through endless greenery, dramatic landscapes around every corner, and those unexpected reminders of Japan's remarkable infrastructure—usually done exceptionally well (although I suspect the poor bridge might disagree!).

We haven't visited any major tourist attractions up this way, but that's part of the magic. Rural Japan has a charm all of its own. The peaceful villages, mountain vistas, and authentic local life are every bit as rewarding as the famous sights.

Sometimes the best travel experiences are found far from the crowds.

The 4 hour ferry will take us over to Hokkaido Island and the city of Hakodate. Let’s see what it brings…

Hidden deep in the mountains of Nagano, Ouchi-juku and Naruko Onsen feel like stepping into another world ✨

Wander through the preserved Edo-period streets of Ouchi-juku, where thatched-roof houses line the snowy village pathways, before soaking in the healing hot springs of Naruko Onsen — one of Japan’s most atmospheric onsen towns. Although maybe past its hey day.

And for something truly unique… doll painting.

Japan’s quieter corners always have the best stories to tell.

World Heritage Nikko is the perfect rest day destination — a place where culture, nature, and history all come together. The World Heritage Pass makes it so easy to explore with excellent transport links to temples, shrines, waterfalls, and hidden gems throughout the region.

One of the highlights? The beautiful Kanmangafuchi Abyss — a peaceful riverside walk lined with mysterious Jizo statues, moss-covered pathways, and the soothing sound of the Daiya River. It feels worlds away from the crowds and offers a completely different side of Nikko.

From the ornate Toshogu Shrine to tranquil forest trails and traditional ryokan stays, Nikko is a destination that deserves more than just a quick stop. ✨🇯🇵

Leaving Takayama and heading further into the mountains — but still just west of Tokyo, making this whole region surprisingly easy to access if you’re planning a trip to Japan. 🇯🇵

First stop: Kusatsu Onsen… absolutely gorgeous and one of Japan’s most famous hot spring towns. Think steaming streets, traditional ryokans, mountain air, and pure relaxation.

Then onto Kiryu, a fascinating textile town with beautiful historic architecture and a real local feel.

Next up: Nikko (we are nearly there) — which I’m sure many of you have heard of! Temples, forests, waterfalls, and stunning scenery everywhere you turn.

Japan just keeps delivering. ✨

It’s been a busy week or so since leaving Kyoto… and I’m very behind on my posts but promise to catch up!

We cycled over the mountains outside Kyoto and before long found ourselves at Lake Biwa — Japan’s largest freshwater lake. What an incredible surprise that was. From there we rode through Iwasaki, famous for producing Japan’s wonderfully realistic “fake” restaurant food, then onto Matsumoto so I could finally see one of Japan’s iconic castles in person.

Next up, Takayama, wandering its beautifully preserved historic centre, soaking up the atmosphere and discovering yet another side of Japan. Every place we stop feels completely different from the last — that’s the magic of travelling here.

The culture, the scenery, the food, the people… there’s just so much joy in this journey. And honestly, I don’t want it to end.
