That time again. The opening is approaching. October the first and We are off to the lake for a week. Opening is Tuesday this year.
Looking forward to getting on that mighty river and fishing in the high country of Marlborough New Zealand. I will be fishing where the 6 - 8 pounders are. Good time await but not with the Sage this year..............I broke it last year.

Not much happening on the fishing front this year. Only been out once. So next year I might only be buying a day licence.

Hey fishers........Not alot of action latley but we are off tomorrow to have a look up the river. Wairau. Taking the boy to do some dryfly dropper fishing in the moring on the pools. Should be nice to get out. I will take a couple of pics.

Well....I am not sure if I have posted this but last time I went fishing I broke my Vintage RP series SAGE rod. Very upsetting. I took it to Hunting and Fishing Marlborough and the boys there are great but SAGE do not make this style rod anymore and I will have to pay a subsidy for a new rod. They are offering me a few to try out. They are very good at that shop I must say. I looked at the Z or XP something series and it was not for me......too loose. I tried the SAGE ONE series and man what a great rod. That thing is power stick and I would love one but for 1,000.00 NZD it is a little out of my price range. I will say that the cork handle was also very comfortable. Anyway a chap I know dropped around in the weekend with a SAGE Z Axis. I never thought much of these rods but this one is not too bad. He wants 350.00 NZD and I am considering it. I will post photos.
