Distilled at New Zealand’s southern edge, The Baby Buoy carries the same clean bite of the ocean breeze, the grit of the harbour, and the freshness of the land, now in a perfectly sized 200ml bottle. A true southern spirit, born where the waves meet the wild. This compact classic London Dry Gin de...

Congratulations to our good friends at The Bluff Distillery for winning another prestigious international award! The first New Zealand gin to win a platinum at these awards and to win the best gin across all categories, again a New Zealand first, is truely remarkable. Keep making us proud and sharing a little bit of the wonderful Bluff with the rest of the world, cheers!

Where the spirit lives on. Crafted in Bluff, our gin captures the rugged sea, the land, and the people behind every drop.

SIT and Ocean Beach NZ Aquaculture Hub have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding that will strengthen aquaculture innovation and regional capability building in Southland.

The agreement recognises the growing importance of aquaculture to the regional economy and positions SIT at the centre of developing the skills, knowledge, and applied learning needed to support the sector’s long-term success.

Southland is well-suited to aquaculture development, with the necessary attributes in water quality, ocean currents and water temperature. Ocean Beach’s coastal location, access to primary production and its cool, clean sea water made it ideal for development, with scope to add more products, such as oysters, kina, shellfish, salmon, and other farmed fish, as well as seaweed for human consumption, horticulture and agriculture, and other innovations.

There’s nothing quite like a Kiwi Christmas! Long summer days, salty air, and a table filled with the best kaimoana Southland has to offer.

At Ocean Beach, we’re proud to be part of a region where food is deeply connected to place, people, and tradition. From fresh oysters, pāua and whitebait on the BBQ to shared platters, cold drinks, and easy afternoons by the water.

This festive season, we hope you get the chance to gather the whānau, enjoy great kaimoana, and make memories that taste like summer in the south.

Ocean Beach will be closed from the 22nd of Dec till the 5th of Jan for a well-deserved break. We’ll be back refreshed and ready to welcome you in the New Year.

From all of us at Ocean Beach, we wish you a relaxed, sun-soaked Kiwi Christmas filled with good food and good company.

Wire fences may not make for the prettiest pictures… but they’re protecting some seriously exciting things happening here in Southland.

With thanks to our Regional Infrastructure Fund from the government, these fences are helping safeguard our world-leading sustainable aquaculture - and yes, even the site of award-winning and pretty tasty gin from The Bluff Distillery .

Not glamorous, but absolutely vital, and this is just one of the many upgrades / building and refurbishments going on here. A big thank you for supporting innovation, sustainability, and the future of Ocean Beach and the growth of our aquaculture industry in Aotearoa.

Congrats Hayz and team, so well deserved!!
