Have your say on the future of Lake Karapiro 🌊

Lake Karapiro is a hugely important lake for boating, waterskiing, power sports, fishing, paddling, swimming and recreation — not just for local users, but for athletes and families visiting from all over New Zealand.

Waipā District Council’s Draft Karapiro Lake Domain Reserve Management Plan is now open for public submission, and the proposed changes could significantly affect:
• Motorised lake access
• Existing boat ramps and access points
• Safety and congestion on the water
• The lake’s ability to operate as a national training and event venue
• Fair access for powered and non-powered users alike

If you're a boatie that uses Lake Karapiro - this matters to you.

👉 Submission numbers matter. Other user groups are actively mobilising. If powered-watersports users stay quiet, decisions will be made without us.

This isn’t about opposing environmental protection or public access. It’s about ensuring:
✔️ Balanced lake use
✔️ Safe and efficient access for all
✔️ Multiple access points
✔️ Protection of nationally significant facilities
✔️ Fair treatment of long-standing lake users
