Essene Country Lodge is park-like so you may walk barefoot through the paddock, under the pines, or redwoods as our only animal residents are Mrs Confetti and Pickles our chooks. Rabbits, pukekos, and different birds fly free at our place. You can soak in the spa, forest bathe, cuddle around a purpose build fire pit with marshmallows to roast. A 10-minute drive west from Cambridge or 20-minutes south of Hamilton, Essene Country Lodge is nestled on 1.6 hectares of classic Waikato farming land. The lodge is one-hour drive from Raglan, Rotorua or Tauranga and two-hours from Auckland. It is conveniently positioned close to Mystery Creek event centre and the world-class velodrome, Avantidrome.
“Our lodge has become a handy oasis for those attending busy events at the nearby event centres,” says host Colleen. “We also have a lot of rowers, cyclists and wedding parties appreciating the proximity of our lodge, not to mention taking advantage of our well-equipped laundry.”
Other nearby attractions include; Hobbiton (30 mins), Glowworm caves (50 mins) and Lake Karapiro (15 mins). Cambridge is located in the heart of the Waikato horse breeding district and known for it’s world-class stables. The township offers lovely tree-lined streets and some amazing heritage buildings. We also have some fabulous antique stores and art galleries that are worth a visit. Important things to know
