A bucket list hunt I’ve dreamed about for years,
Finally getting to hunt Alaska with my best mate Baz.

The dream has always been a Dall sheep, and after waiting years to finally make it happen, it was tough watching that dream slowly start to slip away. We located sheep, but only young rams, and a week of cloud and rain made hunting the high country incredibly tough.

We camped up high, hoping to wake to clear skies, but the cloud was still rolling through the basins and covering the country a heart breaking moment.

It was time for Plan B. Drop into the lower country, see if we could locate any sheep low, and start looking for a grizzly or moose.
We found one great looking moose, but unfortunately he was outside our hunt zone.

Then we spotted a grizzly about six miles downriver from camp. We waited all day hoping he'd come back out, but he never showed.

The next day we headed further downstream to try and relocate him. After a few hours, the bear appeared high on the hillside, making his way back toward the creek where we'd first seen him two days earlier.
He kept coming, eventually crossing the creek and stepping onto the bank at 250 yards. The .300 made light work of it.

The Alaska dream didn't end exactly how I'd planned, but I’m bloody glad I got to experience it with a great mate.
