Opened in May 2021, the Lake Dunstan Trail features 450 meters of cantilevered boardwalks bolted directly into the schist cliffs of the Cromwell Gorge. Constructed using cliff-face scaffolding and helicopter support, these structures navigate challenging terrain with minimal environmental impact. ​

This trail offers cyclists and walkers a unique experience, combining stunning Central Otago landscapes with remarkable engineering.

What do you get when you mix lawn bowls, icy floors, and a healthy dose of chaos?

Curling. And somehow - it works.

In Naseby, tucked into Central Otago, there’s a rink where you can try this gloriously weird sport for yourself. You don’t need skills. You don’t need balance (well… it helps). No skills required - just the ability to yell “Hurry hard!” with confidence and hope your stone lands somewhere in the house (that’s insider lingo for th big target).

It’s a break from the trail. A chance to cool down. And a surprisingly fun memory in the making.

At 75 years young, Margaret and her friend Bex have just crossed the Alps to Ocean finish line!

This March, these two ladies are riding to raise funds for Kilometres for Kids, supporting the Starship Air Ambulance in New Zealand.

If you've ever ridden with Trail Journeys, you might know our lovely Rebecca from the office — her 11 year old son, Ethan, is joining the cause too! Next week, he'll be taking on the 152km Otago Rail Trail to help make a difference.
