The good thing about Arbroath accommodation , it sleeps so many , that with abalone next door, we can sleep 13 people comfortably, over the weekend Creative Fibre Southland stayed , yes we are dog friendly but in this instance it was Jewel the goat , she was milked both mornings providing milk for those cups of tea .

Gillmaster golden ales got nothing to do with Arbroath, but is brewed way up the coast from Vancouver Canada at a place called Prince Rupert , a quaint brewery called the wheelhouse brewing company. Was lucky enough to be there when the salmon were running. Arbroath has a new couch , so comfy , just nice to sit there and watch the waves roll in .

It’s been a great summer season, lots of interesting people staying from all around the world . They’ve loved the uniqueness of Arbroath, lots of interesting stuff to look at , they’ve loved swimming with the hector dolphins out front , they’ve loved how warm our summer has been but more importantly they’ve loved the Colac Bay locals , lots of characters , you just need to visit the Colac pub . Colac pub has nightly meal specials , even drink specials the best seafood, and with foveaux strait oysters now in season , trying them is a must .

Arbroath Colac bay is your genuine kiwiana crib as we call them in southland. Remember these bottle openers every household in the early 60s had one . Arbroath is full of nostalgia ,collections of all sorts of things. The painting cosy nook by Roy j Dickson , Cosy Nook is only 15 minutes away , Arbroaths so close to the sea 20 steps from the front door and your wet. Arbroath needs to be on your list of things to do this summer.

Today we said goodbye to Fred , he's had a great stay in Colac bay , he's met many locals has dined on some fine food that only the south can offer , he's helped on the farm , he's been for coffee and cake with some of our local ladies and most nights has been waiting eagerly at the Colac bay tavern with a bottle of lion red and 2 seven ounce glasses , Wazzas going away present and the fact Fred got 3 $2 bottles in toss the boss on his final night was real special , safe travels back to Sweden Fred , 5 o'clocks aren't going to be the same , we look forward to your next return .
