Every walker gets a 4 wheel drive ride to the trail head and all of your luggage and chilli bins gets a ride to the next accommodation.
All that needs carrying is a day pack, unless ya mate sneaks a rock into yours.

Island Hills Station is hosting an on farm meeting for members of the Agritourism Network on Monday 5th October 2026. 11am to 4pm (options to leave at 2pm)
Lunch kindly provided by GSI South Insurance, however there's no such thing as a free lunch so you have to sign up with AgritourismNZ and register for the event.

Island Hills Station private walking track opens again in October for our seventh season. Choose 3 day or 2 day, self catering or catered, or perhaps just take it easy on the evening of arrival with a hosted BBQ and four wheel drive farm tour, then self cater the remaining nights. Bring your mates, up to 10 per trip, bring a dog, even bring a horse (different trail). Let us do the hard grunt transporting all of your gear between huts so you just carry a day pack. Hot showers, well equipped kitchens, comfortable bunk beds, very clean facilities, serviced daily. We make it sound too easy, however the tracks are challenging enough to make a good outing each day. Lots of forest cover and creek dips to escape the summer heat.
Just 1.5hrs drive north from Christchurch Airport, New Zealand.

We are going to open Huntaway Homestead for the Christmas and New Year holidays, minimum 3 night stays, full house from Wed 23rd Dec through till Sunday 3rd January.
Nine bed spaces, bring family and freinds, mountain bikes, horses, hiking boots, thousands of hectares to roam. Extra hosted activities also available. Hanmer Springs, cafes, bars, hotpools just 50 min drive.
