🚗 Driving change since 1977 🚗

In 1977, Operation Mobility was launched at the Beehive. It was a game-changing moment in accessibility history. In this photo, Ross Goldsbury – then manager of CCS Hawke’s Bay – proudly displays one of the early Operation Mobility cards.

Fast forward to 2025, and there are now over 180,000 mobility parking permit holders across the country – managed by our dedicated team in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

As we celebrate 90 years of CCS Disability Action, we’re proud to reflect on the milestones that have helped shape a more inclusive New Zealand.

Hobbiton is one of the most magical stops on our New Zealand tour, and it’s as easy to enjoy as it is beautiful. With smooth paths, gentle hills, and thoughtful access, everyone in our group was able to wander through the movie-perfect gardens, peek inside hobbit holes, and soak up the charm of the Shire at their own pace.

Whether you're a Tolkien fan or simply love peaceful places, this experience is a true highlight — and yes, the ale at the Green Dragon is just as good as they say!

Stoked to be bringing another Rogue to the trails of Aotearoa!

It all kicked off with my good friend Sophie Morgan , whose trip to Aotearoa last summer led to connections with Ahipara Luxury Travel and the incredible Conscious Travel Foundation

Thanks to these introductions, Makingtrax was selected from a group of amazing international initiatives doing powerful work for people and place—and we’ve been awarded a game-changing grant from the Conscious Travel Foundation

This is all part of our mission to Adapt Aotearoa—bringing world-class adaptive mountain biking to epic destinations across the country.

The latest in adaptive e-assist technology—the Bowhead Rogue —has just landed and is heading to Arrowtown, right in the heart of the Queenstown Trail network. It’ll be hosted and managed by the awesome crew at Better by bike

This marks our second Rogue in the country, with the first already shredding trails in Nelson thanks to the legends at The Gentle Cycling Company

For two weeks, this awesome group of friends and family explored the best of New Zealand — from Hobbiton to Doubtful Sound, glowworm caves, starry skies, thermal pools, and plenty of exciting surprises along the way.

"They were so knowledgeable about their country, understood how to deal with me, my wheelchair how to give us flexibility."

There were laughs, last-minute detours, and unforgettable views — the kind of memories that only come from saying yes to adventure. We’re so glad we got to plan this thrilling trip and to be part of the adventure.
