Hinterland, Brighton.

A renovation that took a difficult collision of volumes and roof planes and gave the whole house one language.

The judges picked up on the entry: lighting that draws you in between the juxtaposed roof forms. Dark cladding, so the planting and the coast stay the loudest thing on site.

Commended for Residential Alterations and Additions at the 2026 ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards, Otago/Southland. Thanks .

We're very grateful to have received a Commended Award for our Hinterland project at the 2026 ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards, Otago/Southland.

What the judges said: "Taking on a challenging confluence of volumes and roof planes in the existing dwelling, this renovation project brings a unified language that builds on and emphasizes the initial spatial arrangement. Integration of lighting invites visitors to the entry between the juxtaposed roof forms."

It's always great to have our work recognised, and we're incredibly proud of what our excellent DKA team achieved with this project.

We were in the paper. 📰
