🚲🌲 Little legs, BIG adventure!

Today while Soph was out on a girls shopping trip, Nate and the girls hit the trails at McLeans Island Bike Park, with Chloe riding the whole loop herself on her little one-speed bike! 💪🚲

She only had to hop off and push up a couple of the bigger hills… but apparently had ZERO concerns about absolutely hooning back down them! 😂😳

Astrid had the best seat in the house, cruising along on dad's Shotgun seat. 🥰

Safe to say we’ve got ourselves a couple of little adventure girls! 💚

A little adventure above Christchurch!

Today Soph and the girls, along with some friends, headed up the Christchurch Gondola for a bit of exploring!

The gondola takes you up Mt Cavendish to around 445m above sea level, with some pretty amazing views over Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains, Lyttelton Harbour and Banks Peninsula!

🌋 Fun fact — the Port Hills are actually the remains of an ancient volcano, which makes the view over Lyttelton Harbour even cooler!

At the top the girls did what they do best... had a good run around exploring, played some games and, most importantly, refuelled with ice cream and chocolate and strawberry milk.

Then it was back aboard the gondola for the ride down again. 🚡

And a handy tip if you’ve got little ones — under 5s ride FREE! 🙌 Definitely makes it a great little family outing in Christchurch.

Another Canterbury adventure ticked off!

Today we had a very exciting afternoon for Chloe!

Today was a pretty special day — we headed into Specsavers Hornby to pick up Chloe’s very first pair of glasses!

She chose the cutest pink Bluey frames, and from now on she’ll be wearing her glasses full time.

We weren’t quite sure how she would take to having to wear glasses fulltime, but so far she has absolutely surprised us. She’s taken to them incredibly well and seems so proud of her new look.

The most amazing part is that, even in the short amount of time she’s been wearing them, we’re already starting to notice little changes. It really makes you realise just how differently she must have been seeing the world before.

After failing her Before School vision screening and going through further testing, it’s lovely to finally have her glasses on and know that she’s getting the help her eyes need.

And seriously… how cute does she look?!

We’ve just had a wander around the 4x4 Outdoor Expo Christchurch, checking out all the stalls and chatting with lots of awesome people! 👋

We also bumped into Jonathan Collins at the Dometic stand and had a good catch-up with him, which was a lovely surprise!

It’s pretty cool seeing all the different modifications, accessories and setups available for 4x4s, caravanning and camping. There are definitely plenty of ideas to get me thinking… which could be dangerous! 😂

Such a great expo for anyone who loves getting outdoors and exploring New Zealand. 🚙🏕️

💚 Happy Father’s Day to the Dad behind so many of our adventures 💚

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know Nathan is usually the one towing the caravan, fixing whatever has decided not to work 😂, loading the bikes, setting everything up and somehow getting roped into whatever idea I’ve come up with next.

But his most important job is being Dad to Chloé and Astrid. ❤️

He’s the one teaching them to ride their bikes, taking them exploring, letting them “help” with jobs that would probably take half the time without two little assistants 😂, carrying them when their legs suddenly stop working and making sure there’s always time for a bit of silliness along the way.

One of the biggest reasons we chose this slightly crazy life of living in a caravan and chasing adventures is because we wanted more time together and more memories with our girls while they’re little.

And they couldn’t have a better Dad to make those memories with. 🥰

Happy Father’s Day Nate!

We hope you know just how much your three girls love and appreciate you… even if two of them spend a good portion of their day yelling “DAAAAAD!” from opposite ends of the caravan. 😂❤️

Love Soph, Chloé & Astrid xx

You never know who you’ll bump into on the morning laundry run 😂🧺

We ran into this morning while they were on their way to the Outdoor Expo at Wolfbrook Arena — and naturally the girls had to check out the truck! 😍

We’re heading along on Saturday, so if you spot us wandering around in our green HLGC hoodies, come and say hi! 👋💚

Who else is going?

Yesterday was one of those simple but really good family days in Kaikōura.

We started the morning with a stop at for coffee for Mum and Dad and strawberry gelato for the girls...because apparently gelato for breakfast is completely acceptable when you’re on holiday!

From there we headed around to South Bay and decided to go for a walk and see if we could find some seals 🦭 The girls actually did so well! Astrid spent a fair bit of the walk being carried by Dad, and Chloé eventually ended up getting a piggyback from Mum on the way back. We only made it as far as the first lookout before deciding hungry, thirsty and tired little people were probably telling us it was time to turn around rather than push our luck! Back at the truck we found a picnic table, got some lunch into the girls and then let them have a good explore around the rocks and rock pools before heading home.

Astrid had a VERY needed afternoon nap while Chloé and Dad did a bit of reading practice, and Mum snuck off for a spot of op shopping and a few boring life-admin jobs.

Chloé helped make and ice a chocolate cake for Dad’s 40th birthday, before we finished the day with takeaways, birthday drinks and a pretty cruisy night together.

Nothing particularly fancy, nothing perfectly planned… just a really nice day exploring Kaikōura together and making some memories along the way.
