Annapurna Circuit Bikepacking

11 months ago, 13 friends from South Canterbury set off on the bikepacking trip of a lifetime—an adventure that truly delivered on every level.

This journey also served as a reconnaissance trip for future expeditions with Koru Mountains Trekking and Expeditions. A huge thank you to the entire team, and especially to Bevan Newlands for capturing the experience in a fantastic short film.

Team Mera Peak have arrived in Tangnak to stay with good mate Sonam Chhiring Sherpa Lodge. Acclimatising hike to 5100m. All are doing well.

Manaslu Trek 2025 with Phurenje Sherpa

Koru Mountains trekking to the Manaslu region began yesterday. Today we had our first day of hiking from Macha Khola to Jagat. It was hot and humid and hazy because of several fires along the way. We passed through an incredible gorge compared to NZ gorges. Sandy and Dean and the team Surya and Tenzing Tashi are doing incredibly well. I came here 6 or 7 times more than 30 years ago. There were no teahouses then. We used to walk for six days from the road end to get to Jagat. Now the road has been built to here but we did not drive it. It looks scary. Today I had my first solar hot shower. Stay in tune. I will be posting more scenery in coming days. Phurenje Sherpa
