HAPPY INTERNATIONAL BIODIVERSITY DAY!

A huge thanks from Cliff and myself at Glacier Valley Eco Tours to our clients who donated to the Ōkārito Plant Project in the last year πŸ™Œ
This is an option they have at checkout on our online booking system, or in person in our office.

$465 was donated online - this is approx 70 native riparian trees in the ground locally in Ōkārito, Whataroa and Fox Glacier ❀️

The Ōkārito Plant Project is a circular economy based on the Jobs for Nature model, uniquely created by us at the Ōkārito Native Plants Trust.
It brings tourists, tourism businesses, their staff, volunteers and farmers together to enhance and restore biodiversity directly to South Westland, fostering wellbeing, social connections & a better connection to nature - in the place we live.

The above private lifestyle farm is nearly completed its riparian planting along this creek, which runs through dairy farms and out to the Waitangitahuna river, Whataroa. The next few years will be maintenance checks to make sure the trees stay alive & healthy.

PROJECT EARLY BIRD 🦜

This Conservation Week we want to acknowledge our wonderful volunteers who join our trapping day every month, - rain ,hail or shine πŸ˜€.

We couldn't run this project without them, and we wouldn't want to - collaboration and education are the key factors of our project. Also huge thanks to Matheson Cafe for all their support over the last 8 years πŸ™Œ
