Tractor & Machinery Operator
Hakataramea Station
JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team on a 4000ha sheep, beef, and deer farm in the stunning Hakataramea Valley, just 20km from Kurow. Sadly, after many years of dedicated service, our current tractor driver is moving on, and which means we need to find someone to take on this exciting key role.
This full-time position will primarily involve drilling and feeding out, with the opportunity to contribute to other farm projects including spraying, track maintenance (using digger and grader), and general farm upkeep. There may also be occasions when you’ll assist with stock work during busy times like tailing and weaning, though this is not a primary focus of the role.
What We’re Looking For:
Strong mechanical aptitude, with an emphasis on maintaining and operating high-spec machinery.
A good work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in driving a variety of farm machinery
A current HT license is preferred, and mechanic or engineering experience would be a bonus (but not essential).
What’s on Offer:
Hakataramea Station offers an exceptional work-life balance. Surrounded by lakes, rivers, and mountains, you'll have a wealth of outdoor activity options to enjoy after a day’s work, from boating and mountain biking to fishing and hunting. The role will provide variety in your work and a great opportunity to extend your skills and gain experience across all aspects of farming.
In return, we can offer you:
A comfortable 3-bedroom house, with lunches provided during the week. The primary school bus picks up right at the gate!
A great social community with opportunities for fishing, hunting, squash, netball, rugby, and more.
A strong Young Farmers Club to help you connect and grow in the industry.
Located just 20 minutes from the service town of Kurow for all your essential needs.
Flexible Start Date: We understand that the right person may need flexibility, so we’re open to discussing a start date that works for you.
