We're replacing the State Highway 6 Coal Creek overbridge on the outskirts of Greymouth.

We're setting up a temporary bypass road to keep you moving through the area while we build the new bridge and remove the old one. We expect the bypass road will be open and ready for traffic in late 2026.

The overbridge was built in 1938 and over time, ground movement has damaged the foundations and It’s reached a point where it’s more cost-effective to replace it than to continue to maintain it.

We're building the new bridge in the same location. It'll feature two traffic lanes and a 1.2 metre shoulder which'll be much safer for people cycling.

Walk your dog for cancer. Tawhai is currently receiving treatment in Australia for Multiple Myeloma. Join this event to raise awareness and funds to support him and his whanau. There will be a walk on the trail followed by a sausage sizzle.
