Jitterbugs Dance Lessons

Jitterbugs Dance Lessons Jitterbugs is a small dance school setup to provide fun, low-cost dance lessons for boys and girls

I started Jitterbugs after hearing from a lot of parents that their children loved dancing, but it was too expensive and they couldn't always be bothered with the stress of the end of year shows. I started out in February 2011 with around 10 students and have since grown to over 180 students, thanks mainly to the word-of-mouth of parents. I absolutely love what I do and hopefully this shows in my

enthusiasm at dancing and towards the kids. Instructor Experience: I have over 20 years experience teaching a variety of aerobics classes and still currently teach at the Rec Centre gym at the University once a week and have my own JitterFit aerobics session on a Monday night at Rototuna Junior High School. I also did tap dancing for 7 years in my younger days which incorporated Jazz style moves, which i use in my dance routines. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and have my own Accountancy business working from home part-time. The dancing started out as a small hobby, but now consumes more time than my accountancy work, but I love every minute of it!! I have two children, Cameron 12, Paige 9, and a very supportive husband and if it wasn't for their help and support I wouldn't being doing everything i do!

So excited to see Ed Sheeran again! Who went last night or is here tonight? 🎶

Left Lake Rotomā at 6.00am this morning to head back to Taupō for Paige’s final day of the U18 indoor hockey competition, only to discover the road was closed due to a fatal crash. After turning back, we managed to find a back road — including a gravel section in torrential rain — and finally arrived in Taupō at 8.30am for her 8.00am game 🤦‍♀️
Paige managed to play 1½ quarters, the girls won, and they were straight back on again for the 10.00am game. Another win and they finished 3rd overall, so at least our very long 2½-hour drive wasn’t wasted!
She’s heading back to Taupō again tonight for a few days to play in the women’s grade 🤞🏑

Early start to the day to take Paige to Taupo to play indoor hockey for Waikato. The team dominated hard out in the first half, but lost 3-1 in the end. Love watching sport! 🏑🏑

After another super sunny warm day all of a sudden we have just had thunder and a huge hail storm! So noisey on the roof ☔️☔️ Anyone else getting a storm where they are tonight?

Such a cracker of a morning on the lake today and for now we have the lake to ourselves 💖

Spot the difference - Paige doing a back flip off a 5m ledge vs me taking 5 mins to build up the courage to jump then screaming as I jump in 🤣🤣…but at least I have it a go!

What’s the weather doing where you are today? We had lots of rain and thunder this morning, and then at lunchtime the sun came out 🌞 I am trying out my new paddle board watching Paige swim to the buoy and back - she did well…might have to give it a go without being assisted by my life jacket!

As we wrap up 2025, I just want to take a moment to say a very special THANK YOU to all of our amazing Jitterbugs families. I feel so incredibly lucky to have such supportive families who continue to come back year after year and be part of the Jitterbugs journey.
We had another amazing year with 442 Jitterbugs enrolled across the four terms, I taught over 160 hours of dancing to an average of 110 Jitterbugs each week, we put on four amazing shows, we had two of our Jitterbugs start teaching Hip Hop, and celebrated another one of our Jitterbugs reaching 10 years of attendance!
What a year it’s been. I can’t wait to see what 2026 brings for our Jitterbugs family 💃✨
