Something beautiful happens when strangers become friends 🥾❤️

This is the magic we witness every single day on our hikes.

There's something about walking through New Zealand's ancient forests together that strips away pretense. Maybe it's the shared huffs and puffs up those hills, or the collective "wow" when you round a corner to find a hidden waterfall. Perhaps it's passing around the Whittakers chocolate, or the way everyone automatically waits for the last person to catch up.

By the time we reach our wine glasses in the evening, strangers have become cheerleaders. By dinner with our private chef, you're swapping contact details and planning your next adventure together.

We love creating the space where genuine connections bloom.

Some of our guests say the views were unforgettable. Others rave about the food. But almost everyone mentions the people they met - the unexpected friendships forged one step at a time.

Did you know the Nikau is New Zealand's only native palm?

Our guides love pointing out these ancient beauties, especially on our Coromandel walks. They can live for 200+ years and are a true symbol of our unique forest ecosystem.

You can estimate the age of a Nikau tree by counting the rings - every two rings is roughly two years of growth.

We know there are a lot of hiking tours out there to choose from.
We decided to add a little....flavour, to ours!

There are some incredible artisan producers in our regions, and we love connecting with them, and taking our hikers for a peek behind the scenes and sample of their wares.

Cool story time.

This is Karyn and Steve.

Steve used to guide for us, and we also used to stay at their beautiful guesthouse, Mangotahi Lodge up the Kauaeranga Valley.

Then Karyn and Steve decided to start importing coffee beans from Vietnam and roasting them.

They got pretty good at it. So good that Steve didn't have time to guide for us anymore - he was too busy roasting!! They launched Pinnacles Coffee and haven't looked back since, recently opening a roastery and cafe in Thames.

Luckily for us, we still get to see them both when we take our hikers to visit.

Plus - their coffee fuels our walks. Especially when taking on the mighty, majestic Pinnacles!!

His extraordinary evening meals at Orokawa Bay Retreat are just the icing on the cake as you get to watch him prepare everything (while you relax with a glass of pinot).

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "We experienced the Private West Coast tour and it was blooming fantastic. The home made cooking was scrumptious. Food always tastes better when you don't have to prepare it yourself but the meals were made with such care. We felt so spoilt."

Pack-free hiking means freedom!

No struggle street with heavy backpacks on our trips. Our guests carry only their personal belongings and some lunch (our guides carry the heavy thermoses for a cuppa, first aid and other bits and bobs!).

For the Pinnacles summit, we even encourage our groups to leave their packs at the hut so they can hike the final hour to the summit completely pack free.
