A very productive weekend… the mussels… a Trev special ( secret recipe) they would have to be the fattest healthiest mussels we have had for a while. I was shocked to catch a feed of gurnard off our wharf… life in paradise!!!

Join the New Zealand Antarctic Society and Step Ahead Trust for a midwinter polar plunge at New Brighton Beach!

Midwinter is the biggest celebration on the Antarctic calendar, historically marked by those wintering over jumping into the freezing ocean.

Learn about Antarctica, the significance of midwinter, and connect with the continent through the very ocean that joins it to New Zealand.

Date & Time:
Saturday 21th June 2025 at 8:00am (Arrive at 7:30am)

Location:
Car Park (North Ramp) between He Puna Taimoana and New Brighton Surf Life Saving Club

What to Bring:
Swimmers, warm clothes, towel, and maybe some tea and coffee in a thermos (costumes welcome!)

Patiently waiting for another historical woolshed tour with the Pelorus mailboat… I thought I’d add a few pictures of our old launch Kiwi. She’s such a classic. Our trusty old farm work boat. Kiwi is such an iconic part of Wilson Bay farms history.

Another beautiful day for a visit from the Heritage explorer. It’s always a pleasure to do a historical farm tour with such a great group of people. An extra added bonus was that I did a pretty good muster to get the sheep in while Trevs away!. We look forward to the next tour.
