It's time to pop outside and check your trampolines are tied down and rubbish bins are secure!

A strong wind warning is in place for Taranaki tomorrow (8 May) from 3pm through to midnight.

Northerly winds could gust up to 130km/h in exposed areas.

Strong winds can bring down trees and powerlines, make driving difficult, and pick up loose outdoor items.

Now’s a good time to:
🏡 Secure trampolines, outdoor furniture, and loose items
đźš— Take extra care on the roads, especially if you drive a motorcycle or high-sided vehicle
📱 Keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings from MetService

There is also a Heavy Rain Watch in Place for the Taranaki Maunga from 4pm tomorrow until 11pm.

We’ll continue monitoring the situation and share updates if needed.

FYI our services are limited this morning for Driver Licensing and Motor Vehicle registration. Thank you for your patience.

âś… Update 04/05/26 12pm: Good news folks, our team has confirmed that the NZTA Registers are back up and running, and our team at AA Centres are able to resume providing Driver Licence and Motor Vehicle Registration services. Thanks for your patience! ^MK

⚠️ System outage Monday 4 May 10am: Our team have let us know that the NZTA Registers are currently down. As a result, our AA Centres are currently unable to process Driver Licences and Motor Vehicle Registration services. We don't have an ETA on when this will be fixed but will update this post when more information is available.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility while this issue is being resolved. In the meantime, please check with your local AA Centre before you visit.
