Jo, and her Family have all signed up for Jump for Cancer to raise funds for the very worthy Cancer Society.

We all know someone who has been affected by cancer in one way or another, and by fundraising we can help support the incredible work the Cancer Society does for individuals and families facing this journey.

Even the cost of your morning coffee, daily pie, or weekly beer can make a difference. We’re not asking for much, but every little bit truly helps.

We would really appreciate your support — thank you for helping us make a difference!

P:S: Phil & Lachlan are not 100% keen to jump, but they want to participate in the fundraise.

What a beautiful surprise to walk into the office this morning ♥

A huge thank you to the amazing ladies from Westpac Hāwera for thinking of us while we work through the recent Middle East flight cancellations. Your kindness and support truly lifted our spirits.

We feel so grateful to live, and work in a small community where local businesses look after each other, especially during challenging times. It really does make all the difference!

PS: we will enjoy the lovely chocolate brownie for morning tea!

‼️ EK FLIGHT UPDATE ‼️

All scheduled Emirates flights to/from Dubai remain suspended until 2359 UAE time on 07 Mar, due to the airspace closures across the region.

EK says it continues to operate a limited flight schedule and is accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority on these limited flights.

Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating.

Travellers are asked to not go to the airport unless they have been notified directly by EK or hold a confirmed booking for these flights.

EK continues to monitor the situation, and says it will develop its operational schedule accordingly.

The latest flight updates will be published on its website, passengers are urged to check the EK website before travelling to the airport.

The carrier reiterates that the safety and security of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority.

MIDDLE EAST AIR SPACE CLOSED

UPDATED:
Due to airspace closures in the region, Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways have temporarily suspended flights.

Flights to/from Qatar and the UAE that were in the air at the time were rerouted or turned around.

The airlines say they are actively monitoring the situation and that flights will recommence when the airspace reopens—but they stress that the safety of passengers and crew is paramount.

Delays are expected, and travellers are urged to check the airline websites for the latest details before heading to the airport, or checking in with their travel agent for rebooking advice.

QR has deployed more staff to Doha’s Hamad airport and other key points to assist impacted passengers. Travel agents are asked to check the agent portal for the latest disrupt updates

EK has issued a disruption policy for passengers due to fly 28 Feb-05 Mar and urges those who booked through a travel agent to contact the travel agency for rebooking details.
. . CRUISE TOO
At the same time Travel Today understands that cruises in the region have also been disrupted, with some cruise ships remaining in port rather than continuing to sail in the region.

More updates to follow. ✈️

‼️ TG PLANS AKL RETURN ‼️

Thai Airways is heading back to Auckland with non-stop flights in the second half of the year.

Auckland Airport says TG will share further details on the service launch soon, including flight start date, aircraft type and booking information.

The Star Alliance carrier flew between Bangkok (BKK) and AKL for 30 years until pulling flights in when the pandemic hit.

Last year 48,000 Kiwis visited Thailand, up 7% on 2019 levels—in spite of no non-stop flights.

BKK plays a key role as a gateway into Southeast Asia, North Asia, the South Asian subcontinent, UK & Europe, offering onward connections through TG’s network. It has more than 60 global destinations.

See today’s issue for more details.

NZ CREW THREATEN STRIKES

Air New Zealand cabin crew are threatening to strike 11, 12 and 13 Feb, which could impact flights operated by the carrier’s international widebody fleet.

However, NZ says it is ‘very focused on achieving a resolution to avoid industrial action’.

The carrier is working through plans to minimise disruption, and there are no schedule changes at this stage.

If the industrial action does go ahead, NZ says it will advise travel agents with impacted passengers, and offer alternative flights, as well as meals, accommodation and transport if required.
