Two loads of big chunky 180 year old white oak arrived today 🙂 (q.robur)
They came from the village of Wakefield where I grew up and they were planted by my very first school teachers grandfather on Bird Road - by the Bird family!
Small place is the Tasman region!
While it's sad to see such large and old trees come out I am glad we can 'treecycle' these into another use!

There's some hard work coming up to get these all sorted so more to come in the future 🙂

A good week slugging out eucalyptus flooring and such with a day off on Friday as we all decided we had better things to do in the bad weather!

Some lovely clear grain in this stuff and there's a lot stacking up for drying now!

It's been rather busy over the last couple of weeks at the mill.
Some new bearings on the underside of the mill, loading stuff out after cutting said stuff. (Pruned macro)
New stacking setups for long term storage as we seem to be running out of room again.
And don't concrete going in on a new project - that's exciting!

Well that would be common old pinus radiata !
We did 1/4 saw it for a test project and it is clear so it did like fairly nice amazingly.
And yes I should have taken a better photo as we went !?!

Its been pretty cold this week around the area, lots of crispy frost on the sawdust and timber in the mornings!
Started the week fighting a monster Macrocarpa - Picture of Shane nawing a piece off so the mill head and sneak on by since someone thought there was clearance (i really did think it would fit!)
Finished a large load of Eucalyptus Regnans towards the end of the week with some nice clear grade flooring and 200x50 boards also - all 1/4 sawn and looking great!
