🎉 Wow... time flies!
On one hand, it seems like Garth and the team at STIHL Howick have been here for well over five years. On the other, it seems like yesterday that Paul Spiller and the team were looking after us all at Spillers Hammer Hardware!
Howick businesses and faces may change over the years, but there’s something pretty special about having great local people there when you need them.
And STIHL isn’t just about chainsaws and outdoor power equipment either! I popped in last week for some Wet & Forget to sort out a retaining wall ready for painting — while one of my best friends recently bought a STIHL electric chainsaw and absolutely raves about it!
So, let’s help Stihl Howick celebrate a spectacular 5th birthday. 🥳🎂

👏 A GREAT RESULT FOR FENCIBLE DRIVE CARPARK!

After many months of meetings, emails, phone calls and persistent follow-up, we are delighted to report a really positive outcome for the carpark off Fencible Drive.

For some time, HVA has received ongoing complaints from our businesses and members of the public about the unacceptable dumping of rubbish in this area.

We knew something needed to change — so Howick Village Association took action.

New signage has now been installed and two CCTV cameras are operating and monitoring the area.

And the result?

🎉 Since the signs went up, we have had NO further dumping!!

Even better, footage captured from the site has been provided to Auckland Council, and we understand this has already resulted in a significant fine being issued to an offender.

We would particularly like to acknowledge the Howick Local Board, whose grant funding assisted HVA with the cost of an additional CCTV camera and the signage. We greatly appreciate their financial support in helping us put practical measures in place.

This has taken months of persistence behind the scenes from the HVA team, but it is incredibly satisfying to see that persistence paying off.

💚 This is about reclaiming and respecting our community spaces.

HVA will continue to closely monitor this Fencible Drive parking area and, where dumping occurs, we will provide available CCTV footage and information to the authorities so offenders can be pursued.

A cleaner, safer and more welcoming Howick Village benefits us all.
