Just like that, our first family island holiday to celebrate my Mum's big birthday is done! Rarotonga, you have been fabulous!

A weeklong vacation staying in a 5-bedroom villa with our own pool was everything we had hoped for.
Loads of space to spread out for the 7 of us, amazing views with private beach access, air-conditioned rooms spread over 2 floors, laundry, two bathrooms fabulous bi-folding doors out to the pool area.
Mud buggies, snorkeling with turtles and classic Captain Tamas glass bottom boat were the activities of choice.
Doing a bit of research before you go does help, things like restaurants do get booked out. Making reservations was essential!

If you have a family group or group of friends, this villa and many others are about the island. You don't always have to stay in a resort when on an island holiday :)

Well embarrassingly it has been quite some time since I last posted on here.
Apologies for the lack of posts, however many of you will know first-hand how travel has exploded the past few years!
With such growth I found I needed to have a space to work solidly without the homelife distractions of working from home. I am here two days a week then out and about meeting clients & working from home the other days.
I aim to update the page more often but know you can always contact me via email/text/call.
I'm off on my own adventure to Japan for 2 weeks, so I will have plenty to share!

Great news!
As of next Tuesday, people travelling to New Zealand will no longer need a negative pre-departure test.

The Government will scrap pre-departure testing from late Monday night.

For anyone who has not already seen this, Air NZ are extending the Air credits travel by date to 30 June 2023!

‼️ AIR NZ EXTENDS CREDITS TO JUN 2023 ‼️

Air New Zealand is extending its air credits for travel through to 30 Jun 2023 due to the ongoing certainty around international border restrictions for those with international flight bookings and/or fares in credit.

🔺Passengers with an NZ credit now have until 30 Jun 2022 to make a new booking using the credit, for travel by 30 Jun 2023.

🔺Customers who booked, or have international flights booked, that are due to depart by 2359 hours 30 Jun 2021 will now be able to hold the fare value in credit for rebooking through to 30 Jun 2022.

The changes are effective from 17 Feb and apply to domestic and international travel. The carrier has waived date change fees (although normal fare differentials may apply).

NZ’s chief customer and sales officer Leanne Geraghty says the move means its passengers can rest assured their credit will remain valid for longer as circumstances continue to change.

“We really appreciate our customers standing by us throughout the difficulties of C-19, and our trade partners for their hard work and ongoing patience and understanding,” she adds. “We look forward to getting Kiwis to more destinations on our international network as soon as we’re able to.”

Woah it has been far too long since I last posted! First I must apologise for my lack of Facebook posts however in all honestly with the rug constantly being pulled out from under us I haven't felt confident to post anything travel related.

I am still here though! Quietly working through all of my bookings to ensure that clients had options for their interrupted travel last year. Whilst I am not logging in on a daily basis I am always only an email or phone call/text away.

So what have I been up to the past 12 months? Well I have become a refund extraordinaire, helping wherever I can (even with clients who didn't book with me). I got back into baking! My amazing friends have enjoyed their weekly bake box which has helped me keep busy and positive. I recently began doing some freelance work for Social Energy, a social media marketing company that has given me a new lease and enjoyment all whilst still being able to work from home. Making the most with family even taking some time to help out at my son's school but I will leave that one to the professionals I think!
Whilst travel overseas feels a far way off I trust it will return at some stage.

Today I met up with one of my closest friends for what should have been a “post-holiday” catch up.
As disappointed as she was about not going, she has been so grateful for the advice, guidance and options given when the time counted.
These past few months have been incredibly trying on many levels and in all honesty at times I have felt at a loss and even with my years of experience completely inadequate to deal with this. The biggest lesson I have learnt or at least been reminded of is that my role is not just about selling travel but sometimes to instill calm. Ensure my clients have trust in me to research and find the best options to present them in constructing an itinerary or deconstructing it in rather dyer times. Whilst I am not the one posting on Facebook every day I have been at the end of a phone, Facebook message, text or email to hopefully help ease your mind about your options.

Today I felt humbled, appreciated to receive a beautiful wee poesy as a thanks not for the lack of holiday but for doing everything I can to get the best in a tough situation.

No I don’t feel the industry is lost if anything this has reminded us all of the need for good brokers who are contactable when you need it. Just imagine what travel will be like in the future, maybe it might not be crowded visiting sites? Or maybe we might have extra leg room on those planes without the extra fee’s? haha who am I kidding they will always charge for that luxury! Who knows what the future of travel looks like and I sure don’t have a crystal ball but what I do know is that it will return :)

The last 10 days have been intense on this front in Tourism- long hours working behind the scene, first trying to save everyone's money when insurances no longer apply. And now trying to bring kiwis home with restrictions/closed borders/ and new rules changing worldwide and hourly.

As of 9pm this evening, transit rules change for Australia, so the routes home are limited. Some commercial airlines will ground their fleet in coming days for some time.

If you have friends or family trying to come home whether that be here in NZ or overseas, get in touch and tell them to get home now. Feel free to contact me if you need help or even advice. I know how hard it is to call the "internet" right now so a friendly voice might give you the reassurance you need.
