Join Larry and Brian for the next free Astronomy Talk this Tuesday as we explore celestial coordinates, astronomical time, the structure of our Milky Way galaxy, and some of the fascinating constellations and deep-sky objects visible from Kaikōura.

Took time to explore the Cultural Artwork Ttail along the Kaikōura Coast today. There are 7 safe stopping areas along the trail. Today I stopped at Toka-ānau, which is just south of Kaikōura, past the Raramai Tunnel. Beautiful area to stop, sit, enjoy the view, and at times see seals, dolphins and even a migrating humpback whale if you're lucky.

This week two local legends, Larry and Brian will offer practical tips for observing comfortably at night, understanding dark adaptation, learning constellations, and making the most of star charts and smartphone apps.
