What a great day at the Kaikōura Whale Festival!

A huge thank you to for having us. We always love being part of this event and it was so nice to see so many people come along to support it.

We had a great day chatting with everyone at our stall. Whether you were guessing the animals in the jar, creating your own uniquely marked marine mammal, learning about , or testing your skills with the NZ orca ID guide, it was awesome to see so many people getting involved.

A big shout out to for bringing along their incredible inflatable whale and to Zac from for teaching the kids about whale disentanglement. It was also great to see all the other community stalls, including Anne at Fyffe House and the giant papier-mâché humpback whale that everyone helped create.

It was fantastic to hear that humpback whale sightings are continuing to increase through this year's Great Kaikōura Whale Count. 🥳

A big thank you as well to the team at for all the yummy hot chocolates and biscuits, and to for always inspiring our craft activities.

Thanks again to everyone who came along and supported the festival. Encounter Kaikoura is proud to support community education initiatives like this 💙

So grateful for everyone working to reopen our beautiful town and to have some access restored to the north already and to see a forecast for the rain to ease 🙌 ☔️

We will be open daily again from tomorrow at 7.30am and we look forward to welcoming you back! 🤗

Tours are cancelled tomorrow (10th) and tour operation remains subject to the weather and sea conditions and we will keep all tour customers updated day by day 🌊
