The NOMAD is Westport-based Damon Schwalger who is a regular visitor to Karamea. Damon has helped local businesses and to promote the region with his professional video and drone footage but will be here this weekend with his musician friends to put on a show that may be his last on the West Coast. Damon loves Karamea and the community and considers the beautiful natural scenery inspirational and Karamea a fitting destination to celebrate 25 years as an Aotearoa electronic music trailblazer.

Together with MC Antsman (Rhombus), special guest Lotus Hartley with visuals by WarpTV (Shapeshifter), supported by DKC333, Rasponsable and Miss Meow they will put on a show at the Last Resort on Saturday night.

The performance will celebrate his 25 years of musical achievement and make the release of The NOMAD - ‘Infinite’, a 180gm ‘vinyl only’ double album, featuring 16 hand-picked tracks representing his best tracks from nine albums since he started recording in 1998. This anthology showcases the progression of Aotearoa’s electronic music scene and features collaborations with many artists who are now well-known artists. The first album sold out before it hit the stores and was #1 on the NZ Independent Music Charts (Sept 2023) and #2 NZ Music Charts (Sept 2023) in the same week. The album is an archive of Aotearoa’s electronic music scene from humble infancy to international recognition today.

The gig will include a compendium of the NOMAD’s best music from early performances at The Gathering festivals and follow his maturation as a musician and DJ, and include imagery from his recent efforts as a videographer capturing the beauty of Aotearoa’s West Coast.

Come and join the NOMAD and friends at the Last Resort Cafe in Karamea, on Saturday 2nd March 2024 to celebrate this amazing back catalogue and unique release from one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s electronic music pioneers.
