Today we drove for 2.5 hours in one direction to my goddaughters new farm not far from Casino past Ballina and Alstonville. We got to meet her partner and her new baby kittens and have a look around the farm which was lovely and see some of the plans they have for it. Cozy farmhouse and a beautiful lunch. Looking forward to seeing it all come together. Thanks Tammy and Beau. Home in time for dinner.

Enjoying being Mexicans and hanging out South of the Border. Today we have been visiting at Tweed. Some friends who used to own the dog kennels in Masterton when we lived but have been living in Australia since we all came over in 2008. Haven’t seen them since 2019 when they visited us in NZ. Good to catch up and see where they are living. Then we went to find a laundromat for some washing and it was right across from tweed club so we had lunch and a throw at the pokies while the washing was on. Coffee at Coolangatta beach front and a drive around and then back to Salt resort where we are staying. Nice pool but the place is quiet with it being winter. Still lots swimming and surfing and 21 degrees. Quite like this area too. International airport, two good hospitals close and lovely beaches and river for boating and fishing.

By 2126, we will all be gone, buried alongside our loved ones. The homes we worked so hard to build will belong to strangers. The possessions we once valued, the cars, the watches, the status symbols, will be obsolete, forgotten, or collecting dust in someone’s attic. Even our names will fade. How...

Today we have had such a lovely day catching up with my friend Liz in Mudgeeraba. We haven’t seen each other for a few years and she made us a beautiful lunch and we sat on the deck and talked solidly for about 3-4 hours. We have know each other since we were 16-18. I don’t think she’s changed much and we both look more relaxed in this pic than the last one when we took when I lived here and had the restaurant. On Wednesday I am off to see her daughter ( my god daughters) new farm in Theressas Creek. Excited.

Yesterday’s post a bit late as we have been on the move. Lots of walking yesterday at the spit on Good Coasts. The concrete boardwalk is new since we lived there. We did about 14,000 steps yesterday between the beach walk and then a look around Pacific fair. Both just fancied a Kway Teow for lunch too

Lovely walk with the boys at Paradise Point. For those who come to the Gold Coast but who have not been to Paradise Point you do not know what you are missing. This is the area we owned a restaurant in when we lived here 2009-2011. We were here for 6 years in total and it all seems so familiar. The picture with Tony and the white car shows our old house that we brought beach front, so worth a small fortune now. It is such a lovely area, well worth a visit. Yesterday we brought some steaks from the local butcher and they had to be the best ever steaks. Very artisan area with nice places for lunch or brekkie. Council runs bike rides for oldies or wheelchairs up and down the board walk, very cool.

Ace and Brownee are being really good dogs. We took them for their walk at the beach with a swim for Ace. Both lying at my feet as think they have worked out who organises their meals. Went for doctors visit to our old doctors at Paradise Point to get our pill supply for next three months. Think Tony’s doctor genuinely pleased to see him still alive after all the emergencies we had when we lived here. Had lie by the pool again as it is so lovely, then off to the gym for and hour before the after work teams arrived. Steak and salad for tea.

Love this place, such a great family home. So after an early start to take the dogs to the beach to get a handle on their routine, we came back and said goodbye to our friends and dog owners who are off for a short break. Then we headed out to get our annual mole checks done. Just like the end of daylight saving when you check the smoke alarms, every year when we come to Aussie we get our moles checked. Then we went in search of a gym. Unfortunately the one we went to could not give us a deal so later when rested, we will go sign up to another Planet gym at Australia fair. Tough life but someone has to do it.

Fabulous Montville. It was definitely cooler up there with a few showers but not cold for us. . Had a lovely time looking around and then finished the afternoon by visiting the Mater home prize which we both loved, and enjoyed the dream of owning. Lunch for me was a salmon, leek and Dill pie- could not resist.

The fine weather and our upcoming departure from Morayfield tomorrow night has prompted us to go for a drive to Montville which is an enchanting, European-inspired village perched in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland's Blackall Range. It is roughly an hour north of Morayfield, and is distinguished by its spectacular coastal outlooks, unique shopping experiences, and invigorating mountain ambiance. More pics to come.
