FULL TIME COMMERCIAL HOUSEKEEPERS REQUIRED

We are looking for enthusiastic housekeepers to work full time with our team cleaning holiday homes at beautiful Lake Tekapo.
You'll need to be fit, energetic and enjoy working with a vibrant multi-national group of young people. At least 3 months experience working in a commercial cleaning environment is necessary as you will need to be very efficient with good attention to details.
* Hourly rate $23.15 - $25 depending on experience.
* Guaranteed 30 hours per week minimum.
* Driver’s License essential.
* Reasonable spoken English is helpful.
* The position is available immediately.
* You must be a New Zealand resident or have the right to work in New Zealand.

A love of the great outdoors is helpful as we are 110kms from the nearest big town. On your days off in the summer you can enjoy cycling, hiking, and climbing. And our local ski fields are just half an hour away for winter skiing and snowboarding. Whatever the weather, the Mackenzie is spectacular!

Transpower suffered an incident with their lines today (30 September 2024) which has left Fairlie, Tekapo and surrounding areas without power.

We expect that Alpine will be able to connect the majority of households in Fairlie, Albury and surrounding areas by late Monday.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 1 October, Council staff will be opening the Tekapo Community Hall from 9.00 am where power and internet will be available for the public to charge devices, make wifi calls etc.

A representative from Alpine Energy will also be on site from 10.00 am.

At this stage there are no impacts of this incident on council services except for public toilets in Tekapo and Burkes Pass which have had to be closed. Signs are in place to direct users to the nearest other toilets currently in operation.

UPDATE 7:00pm

As our crews work on repairs, our partner Alpine Energy has managed to get some supply up and running for a number of customers in Fairlie and Albury. If you have electricity, Alpine Energy is asking you to be mindful of how much you use so that they can supply as many people as possible.

UPDATE 5:45pm

Our work is continuing on site for as long as daylight allows tonight, and then will start again first thing tomorrow. The latest information we have is that power should be restored late afternoon tomorrow.

We appreciate your patience, and know there's never a good time to be without power.

Kia ora everyone in the Tekapo and Albury area

Our crew is now on site and have confirmed that our transmission lines have been cut after a helicopter crop dusting on private rural land hit the lines.

The pilot is safe and was able to land and report the incident.

Our best estimate of the time it will take to repair the damage is 24-36 hours at this stage. We will provide updates on these timeframes as we progress through our repair work.
