Thanks for all the birthday wishes, i’m getting older but luckily I don’t feel like it!!😎 Below is a picture of the “biggest trout” i landed all season. I had stopped in Mossburn to grab a coffee and Roderick Hall from “Hall Sculptures & Design in Thornbury pulled up across the road at the petrol station with his ute laden with his sculptures heading to the Wanaka A & P Show. Amongst them was this stunning driftwood “Trout” sculpture which i just had to have. I purchased it right there and then off the back of the ute and took it home and somehow cunningly convinced my gorgeous partner Louise to buy it for my birthday. The rest is history!! 🎣🐟

In 2015 Nelson Ishiyama, owner of Henry’s Fork Lodge in Idaho introduced me to Yvon Chouinard “Mr Patagonia”.

In Feb 2019 he shows up on my doorstep with Nelson for a few days fishing.
This was the first time Yvon had travelled to New Zealand since climbing with Sir Edmund Hillary back in the 1950’s/60’s.

It was a real pleasure to guide Yvon, one of the world’s great environmentalists and patrons of fly fishing, along with our good friend Nelson.

Nailing a couple of awesome double digit brownies resulted in a career best for Yvon and one of the 2018/19 season highlights for me!!


The “000” was put through it’s paces today but the rewards were awesome😎😎
