Come join the Green Jersey team – we’ve got casual weekend and casual driver roles available starting mid to late September and we’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for:
✅ Casual Shed Assistants (mostly weekend work, hours vary)
✅ Casual Drivers (Flexible hours – work as needed, must hold a valid Passenger Class Licence)

ℹ️ Please note:
-These are casual positions.
-You must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
-Driver roles require a valid Passenger Class Licence.
-Positions are only suitable for people living in or near Martinborough

Well spring is almost here - Joe has spent a lot of time this winter volunteering for The Aorangi Restoration Trust & working with Greater Wellington Backcountry Network to clear tramping tracks in our nearby Aorangi Forest Park - a worthwhile endeavour as some of the tracks have not been cleared for over 40 years! Predator control on the Palliser and White Rock coasts is now in full swing as spring approaches.

We grew up visiting and exploring the Pūkaha wildlife centre, it’s a place that helped shape our love for nature. It’s heartbreaking to see them facing such uncertainty. We are interested in "testing" a local bus tour to local "interesting spots" - we have a few ideas on how to do this potentially in conjunction with Hau Ariki Marae - and we need some willing participants to test the ideas on - it will take from about 9.30 am to about 5pm probably a weekend day (date not yet set) and take in some of the more interesting features around us - we will provide a snack and a hot drink for lunch - you will have to give us your feedback on what worked for you and what didn't and any ideas to improve on it - if you are willing to be a "guinea pig" let me know and I will keep you posted on potential dates.

Well summer 24/25 is over - the storm last week was a bit of a shock announcing "winter is here". Luckily I got our firewood stock finished in time. We will be providing a number of day ride opportunities over this winter from our Martinborough base. The programme so far is:

Sunday 11/5/25 - Martinborough to Pahaoa 45km - shuttle back $50pp
Tuesday 20/5/25 Admiral Hill to Pahaoa 50km - shuttle to Admiral Hill and back to town $65pp

Sunday 25/5/25 - Martinborough to White Rock 57km - shuttle back $50pp

Monday 2/6/25 (King's Birthday) - Pirinoa to Cape Palliser 45km - shuttle to Pirinoa and back from Cape Palliser $80 pp

Sunday 15/6/25 - Haurangi Road end 31km + - shuttle out and ride back to town or down to Sutherlands Hut and then back to town $40pp

Sunday 15/6/25 - Ride the Remutaka Cycle Trail 50km - Shuttle to Maymorn and back from Greytown $60pp

Sunday 29/6/25 - up to 40km - Ride the Te Awaiti coast from Tora out and back to the northern boundary of Te Awaiti Station $75 pp

These rides are all dependent on suitable weather and enough bookings to enable us to cover costs. They will always be at a10 am start from the Green Jersey yard, 16 Kitchener St Martinborough - or we can pick people up enroute if requested. Bike hire is an additional cost.

We will provide a hot drink and some biscuits en route - also the bus based backup will have a first aid kit, pump and some tools etc. - and for those who suffer from "range anxiety" we can carry a spare battery too if you want. We will also provide some ride notes and have a look at anything interesting along the way. Bring your own lunch and hydration. Any visits for coffee etc. (E.g. Landgirl, Whakapuni gardens) are at your own cost. Remember that if the distance is too great or the weather too adverse you just "jump on the bus".

So that's a wrap...Bron & Alex are signing out for the very last time...

Bronwyn has been with Green Jersey Explorer Tours for 10 years starting off when GJ was tiny tiny, starting as a Tour guide moving through to Martinborough Co-Ordinator and customer service super star!

Alex, Mr fix anything! Highly skilled & talented bicycle mechanic
Alex has been maintaining the extensive fleet & Customers personal bikes for 6 years!...no small feat if you know Green Jersey & Martinborough, the one thing we do is cycling! .. the talent will continue Alex is staying local with his all New Martinborough cycle workshop!

It's been an Adventure, we're sad to say goodbye to you all but would like to thank everyone that has made the journey worthwhile! We love you all. ride on!

The Pūtangirua Pinnacles are a geological formation and one of New Zealand's best examples of badlands erosion. They consist of a large number of earth pillars or hoodoos located at the head of a valley in the Aorangi Ranges, on the North Island of New Zealand, in the Wellington region. ( only an hour from Martinborough )
