Kotare House Two self-contained apartments available to let on the beautiful Tawharanui Peninsula. Beautiful beaches & surrounds, watersports, famous Matakana village.

We have been very honoured to find a home in a very special part of New Zealand. We live in view and walking distance to Christian Bay, then a short 3km to the Tawharanui Regional Park with amazing beaches, walks, cycle rides and as it has a pest proof fence we see kiwis, patakes, takahes, shining cuckoos, saddlebacks and so many more bird species on our walks. Even in the bush which is our back

garden we have populations of kaka, ruru and many other birds. Matakana is a 10 minute drive and has fabulous shopping, dining and drinking, galleries, music, cinema and more options including busy markets on Saturdays and Sundays full of local suppliers and artisans. Omaha, Leigh, Pakiri are all just along the road, including the Goat Island Marine Sanctuary. Warkworth town, only another few minutes from us is also well worth a visit. We have converted parts of the house to self-contained, fully furnished accomodation for you to enjoy and relax in. We also have an art studio which is used by me, Alysn, by Brian my husband for creating our own artworks and to provide a space for courses and art retreats durung the year. We have added a lovely planted and screened area in front of the Kaka Lodge bedrooms. Watch the transformation here. When the plants grow a little more we can take away the rabbit proof cages!

You'll see lots of new signs around the area when you visit. The fabulous cumulative effects of trapping have allowed kiwi to spread around. We hear and see them regularly now. When travelling from dusk till dawn, keep a special eye open for them.
