Packhouse Cleaning Staff Wanted

CAJ is looking for reliable and hardworking team members to assist with cleaning our packhouse for a 6-week period starting 7 September.

Duties include:
• Cleaning inside the main packhouse
• Cleaning machinery and plant equipment inside the facility
• General cleaning and maintenance tasks

Please note: Some heavy lifting is required, so applicants should be physically fit and capable of manual work.

What you’ll be doing
CAJ Apples is looking for an experienced Orchard Manager to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position on one of our largest orchards, based in the beautiful Central Otago.

Key Responsibilities
The Orchard Manager is responsible for the efficient day to day operation of the property.

Key responsibilities include: ensuring adequate resources are employed to actively run the property; set and achieve objectives in terms of orchard yield, export pack out, fruit size, tree growth and cropping, orchard costs; ensure all market access requirements are met.

What you’ll bring
• Proven experience in large-scale horticulture and orchard operations
• Confident leadership and supervisory abilities
• Strong knowledge of orchard technologies and systems
• Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills
• Familiarity with machine operation and maintenance
• Expertise in tree husbandry and people management
• Knowledge of pest control, disease management, and chemical use
• Basic skills in accounting, business, and financial operations
• A full, current driver’s licence
• Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand and ability to pass pre-employment checks

Orchard Assistant Manager – Earnscleugh
CAJ Apples is looking for an Orchard Assistant Manager to join our team. A full-time permanent position on one of our largest orchards, in Central Otago.

What you’ll be doing
CAJ Apples is looking for an Orchard Assistant Manager to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position on one of our largest orchards, based in the beautiful Central Otago.

Key Responsibilities
Assist and support the Orchard Manager to provide complete maintenance of the orchard in a husbandry-like manner with due regard to industry best practice.

Key responsibilities include: training and supervising staff; coordinating orchard teams across key seasonal operations (pruning, thinning, harvest); monitoring irrigation, crop health, pests and diseases, assist with harvest planning, ensuring machinery readiness and smooth fruit flow; operating machinery; keeping accurate records for all aspects supporting compliance with the Health and Safety legislation, and all company policies.

What you’ll bring
• Proven experience operating orchard or farm machinery.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in horticulture or agriculture.
• A strong focus on safety, teamwork, and getting the job done right.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Expertise in tree husbandry and people management
• Knowledge of pest control, disease management, and chemical use
• A full, current driver’s licence
• Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand and ability to pass pre-employment checks
