Napier is set to light up once again for Nuit Blanche – Art After Dark on Saturday 3 October!

As the sun sets, the streets of Napier CBD come alive with a spectacular mix of art, music, performance and plenty of unexpected surprises. 🎶🎨

Wander through the arts quarter and discover galleries after hours, watch artists bring their creations to life, enjoy live music and DJs, spot roving performers, explore digital projections and get involved with interactive art.

And, of course, there’ll be plenty of delicious local food and food trucks to keep you fuelled as you explore! 🍔🌮

🌊 See the blue area on this map? If you live, work or spend time there, you need to know what to do in a tsunami.

HB Civil Defence Emergency Management Group has updated Napier’s tsunami evacuation zone – the blue area shown on the map.

So, what’s changed? 🤔
The latest tsunami modelling has allowed the evacuation zone to be mapped more accurately. That means some properties previously inside the zone are now outside it. What hasn’t changed is our tsunami risk. Napier is a coastal city and a large tsunami could affect significant parts of our community.

The blue zone shows the area you need to evacuate from following a tsunami warning.

⚠️ LONG or STRONG? GET GONE.
If an earthquake is long – lasting more than a minute – or strong enough that it’s hard to stand:
👉 Don’t wait for an alert or official warning. Evacuate immediately.
👉 Move out of the blue zone – preferably on foot or by bike if you can – and once you’re out, stay out until you’re told it’s safe to return.

🏠 Take a minute today to check the updated map. Is your home in the zone? Your workplace? Your kids’ school? Where would you go, and how would you get there?

Some evacuation routes may have changed with the updated zone, so even if you’ve checked before, it’s worth checking again.
