Step back in time and experience the magic of steam rail travel on Saturday 18 July as the famous red train returns to the tracks for a memorable day out.

🚂 Option 1 – A Day on the Rails
Travel from Napier or Hastings to Woodville and back. Enjoy a full day behind a heritage steam locomotive, witness the train being turned on the famous Woodville Balloon Loop, and visit the beautifully restored Woodville Railway Station.

🌿 Option 2 – Explore Waipukurau
Take in the stunning countryside as you travel by steam train to Waipukurau. Spend the afternoon exploring local cafés, shops and attractions before rejoining the train for the return journey.

🔥 Option 3 – The Waipukurau Steam Express
Perfect for Central Hawke's Bay locals. Board in Waipukurau and enjoy a steam-powered excursion to Woodville and back, including a trip around the iconic Woodville Balloon Loop.

The challenge squares are open to your own interpretation, so you can make the challenge uniquely yours. Whether it's a book about a job you've never had or one that leaves you thinking, "What did I just read?!", the choice is yours.

You can take part by:
📖 Reading books and novels
🎨 Reading graphic novels
🎧 Listening to audiobooks

How it works:

👉 Choose a challenge square and read or listen to something that fits
👉 Report your progress through the Books and Beyond Challenge page or by scanning the QR code
👉 Complete as many squares as you like

Every completed square and report-in earns an entry into the weekly prize draw, giving you more chances to win the more you read.

🎁 Weekly Prize Draw: Every report-in counts as an entry.
