☀️ Last crossing for this year, and what a day it was! The sun shone brightly, and the clouds and colours were spectacular. Our fabulous clients made the day even more enjoyable ☀️

🔥 Our beautiful Tongariro National Park recently faced some large fires, with the first one in November that burned nearly 3000 hectares.
This incident highlights how vulnerable our unique biodiversity is and we are now focusing on reinstalling and healing the landscape that has some significant impact on our cultural values. 🔥

We are operating back as usual, but we ask all visitors to respect the rāhui that has been put in place on the burned areas for the next 10 years.

☀️ Spring has sprung in the Tongariro National Park.
The abundant rainfall has thawed the ice on the lakes and creating new, expansive bodies of water in the central crater.

It is a remarkable spectacle to witness the transformation of the landscape during these brief weather windows.

However, it is important to note that temperatures can decline rapidly and could potentially revert to winter conditions at any moment.
Please exercise with caution while venturing into the park!
Be prepared for any weather and Stay safe at all times! ☀️

🇳🇿 We apologise for this inclement New Zealand spring weather that has currently prevented us from getting out there as often as we would like to!
While spring weather in New Zealand can be unpredictable, this month has been particularly wet and challenging 🇳🇿

However, on the day the sun finally emerged, we enjoyed a wonderful time in spectacular scenery and plenty of fun with some awesome guests from around the globe 🌍

We also witnessed a large amount of freedom walkers without the necessary gear who put themselves and others into dangerous situations, please don't go out there in winter conditions without knowledge and the gear that you need to stay save !!

❄️ Just a friendly reminder that snow isn’t always fluffy, especially in the very exposed Tongariro National Park. After a few days of storming, the sun finally emerged, leaving us with very mixed conditions on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

The Red Crater Ridge was so icy and dangerous that we had to retreat back to South crater.
Instead, we had some fun times sliding and practising snowcraft in the fluffier snow, even building a snowman ⛄️

Everyone still had a fantastic time, making the most of this beautiful day while staying safe! ❄️

❄️ The storm has passed, leaving us with pristine white snow.
Today was a stunning day, with a wonderful group of clients. The youngest client, who was 13 years old, performed exceptionally well.
While some areas had deep snow, others were icy. However, the team ensured everyone’s safety and well-being.

Many people underestimate the challenges of this hike, especially during winter when there are more obstacles to overcome. It is crucial to have proper gear and knowledge of its use before attempting this hike in winter. We have witnessed several individuals who put themselves and others in danger by attempting this hike without the necessary equipment and expertise.

To avoid such situations, it is strongly advised to seek guided assistance! Come with us 🏔️ ❄️

🧊 A great example of how quick conditions change up here in the alpine environment!
Beautiful and sunny at first - then the storm hits up high and much more intense then forecasted. Making the right decision can be a life saver and all our clients were happy to be up there but also to retreat when it was necessary to keep everyone safe! Great bunch of people!
For the Icelandic client it was just like another bad summer day back home 😅
thanks for our awesome crew, we all still had a fabulous memoriable day ! 🧊

❄️ One of those breathtaking days after a snowstorm on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. It was our first full crossing because there were too many dangers beforehand. We had some fantastic clients with high spirits and smiles, even after a long day out ❄️

☀️ Summer has officially come to a close, and for a day, it transitioned directly into winter, with fresh snow settling on the mountains, creating a glorious scene.. not to forget the mid-summer snowfall at the beginning of January! ❄️

A friendly reminder of how rapidly conditions can change, and the importance of always being prepared for four seasons in one day.

Big shout to our adventurers that come along and push themselves to something they haven’t done before and even when the weather situation changes - making the most out of the experience up in an alpine environment is the most important !

🌧️ We keep everyone safe while giving an experience of a lifetime - even when the weather changes which can happen very quick here in the Tongariro National Park. ❄️

⛈️ We are experiencing a bit of storm at the moment and hopefully will come out with a bit more snow at the end of it 🧊
