Four years of detailed research and meticulous work in miniature has gone into crating scale models of thirteen iconic pre-earthquake Christchurch buildings.

Plastic is everywhere — in our oceans, rivers, whenua, and even in our food systems. This World Environment Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the urgent need to reduce plastic waste and accelerate the shift to a circular economy.

In Aotearoa New Zealand:
🛍️ We use an estimated 1 billion plastic containers each year.
🚯 Around 60% of litter on our beaches is plastic.
♻️ But only about 30% of plastic packaging is currently recycled.

🌿 This World Environment Day, here’s how you can help :
✅ Choose reusable items — bags, bottles, containers
✅ Avoid single-use plastics, especially for food and packaging
✅ Sort your recycling properly and keep it clean
✅ Support businesses using sustainable packaging
✅ Get involved in local clean-ups and education efforts

Every choice we make shapes the future of our environment. Let’s protect Papatūānuku by refusing, reusing, and recycling wherever we can.
