Let’s take a look at the bedrooms here at Five Ferns. 3 beautiful spaces to rest after a day of adventure! Each room has been thoughtfully designed for the most tranquil of slumbers 😴 the mattresses & pillows are so comfy & there is loads of space to put your gear away in the large wardrobes. Both levels have bathrooms which caters well for larger groups staying - up to 6 adults! Sleep well here at Five Ferns & take a break from the world ☺️

We love how much sun just floods into the living area - pop your feet up on the sofa with a good book (or embrace a well deserved nap!) & enjoy hearing the birdsong. You are up in the trees here at Five Ferns & with that you’ll be rewarded with a private space to truly relax in.

If being high up on the hill with amazing views & staying in amongst lush island bush is on your travel list….. we got you :) Five Ferns is set in an amazing location in the township… so close yet you feel a world away in the idyllic setting surrounded by birdsong! Make your way out onto the private deck to enjoy the sunrise, take a deep breath & soak in those gorgeous vistas right down to the bay. This is living! If you are after accommodation that lets you have space, Five Ferns has it! And there’s also a second lounge upstairs, perfect for everyone to have a spot to relax in. You can be lounging about enjoying the view while food is being made in the kitchen, the ideal open plan living space while you are here on your well deserved break. Open up the large sliding doors to the deck & let that fresh island air through as you plan your adventures! 😎

Once you’ve settled in to your accommodation at Five Ferns, it’s time to explore! Visit one of the many stunning beaches like this one at Lonnekers, all within a short walk, enjoy the peace & tranquility, water sparkles & just soak in the sun! 🌞 There is a handy town map that shows all the walks that you can do & then pop onto the DOC website if you want to explore further - The Rakiura Track at Fern Gully end is just down the road or catch a taxi to Lee Bay to start the other end - so many options! Don’t forget your sunblock! 🧴

It may be winter and the snow has arrived at some places across the country.. so it’s a great time to start planning a trip as you search through places to stay, hot coffee in hand and getting excited about then places you can go! That’s such a fun part of the experience of booking a holiday & the island is great to visit any time of the year! If you’re staying with us in winter.. take advantage of the fireplace, heatpump & woodfired sauna to keep cosy or if you are coming in spring/summer, know that you have the most relaxing space to come back to after all your adventures outdoors. Looking for that extra special place to stay on your trip to Stewart Island? Five Ferns is the place to be! Located a short walk from Oban this incredible holiday home boasts 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, full modern & well equipped kitchen & epic views down to Halfmoon Bay. This build completed in 2024 has everything you need for a restful stay here on the island and includes a bespoke wood fired sauna - the perfect way to unwind after a day of adventures 😍 We’d love to have you stay & experience the magic the island has to offer.
