Panoramic views of lake and rugged mountains through to spacious communal areas with a large open fire and enviable kitchen, this is an inspiring place to stay while you explore this amazing part of

the country. Fully equipped kitchen facilities along with an outdoor BBQ make cooking a breeze along with 2 large dining tables to fit all for a great social occasion.
6 Bedrooms that include 3 Super kings rooms and 3 bunkrooms down a long corridor provide peace and quiet at night from the lounge area. Whether its gentle walking or hard-core hikes, skiing or cycling the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail this area offers unforgettable experiences for lovers of the great outdoors. From fishing to astrophotography the Lake Ohau Quarters is the perfect place to base yourself while experiencing the diversity this area offers you.

Saying Goodbye to a Place That Became Home

As the sun sets over Lake Ōhau, it feels like the perfect moment to say my own goodbye. After two unforgettable years, my time as the Lake Ōhau Quarters Manager has come to a close.

This place has given me more than just a job — it’s gifted me quiet mornings, golden evenings, and a front-row seat to one of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth. I’ve had the privilege of calling this lake, this sky, and these mountains my everyday view — and they’ve left a mark on me I won’t soon forget.

To everyone I've met along the way — thank you for the memories, the laughs, the shared sunrises, and the occasional wild weather.

Lake Ōhau, you’ve been magic. Onward to the next adventure, but a part of my heart will always be here.
