🌊 ❤️ Coast Connection Hub opening in Te Kaha. 📆 From Monday 14 September, a new Coast Connection Hub will be operating from the Te Kaha Resource Recovery Centre (RRC), providing a regular, local, Council connection point for our coast communities.

📍 The hub is here to support Civil Defence preparedness and strengthen community resilience, while also making it easier for our coast residents to access council information, resources, and support directly from Te Kaha.

👩‍💻 Our Community Engagement advisor will be available each week (Monday) to provide information, answer questions, and help connect you with the right people and council services.

⚠ If you have an enquiry that needs specialist input – the right council staff member can be brought into the conversation remotely if available, or if not, a future meeting time booked.

✅ Locals are encouraged to drop in to:
▪️Learn more about Civil Defence and emergency preparedness
▪️Access council information, forms, online services and resources
▪️Ask questions about council services, policies, projects and more

🚧 SH2 Waioweka Gorge

Heads up if you’re travelling through the Gorge this Wednesday 2 September or Thursday 3 September 🚗 Short full closures of up to 10 minutes will take place between 7am–5pm while crews carry out rock scaling 🧗

Allow a little extra time and check the NZTA Journey Planner before you travel 👇

Due to a recent slip, State Highway 2 through Waioweka Gorge will be closed for short periods of time on Wednesday 2 September and Thursday 3 September, between 7am and 5pm, to allow crews to undertake rock scaling and make it safe for crews working on the road.

The closures will be for up to 10 minutes at a time, so expect short delays to your journey. The rest of the time, stop/go traffic management will remain in place.
