Kids School Holiday Workshop: Native Bird Collage - Inspired by the art of Eric Carle

To book scan the QR code above or use this booking link: https://events.humanitix.com/school-holiday-workshop-native-bird-collage-workshop-code-rnnbc

Eric Carle was an American author, designer and illustrator of children's books, including the well-known picture book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. The artwork was created by collage, using hand-painted papers, which he cut and layered to form bright and colourful images.

Inspired by this artist we will recreate a kiwi and then choose from either a tui, kereru, morpork or piwakawaka creating our own textured papers and collaging.

All materials supplied in class.

Students will need to bring snacks and water for breaks.

Students doing both workshops on the same day can stay until the end of the second workshop, which finishes at 3pm, provided they have their own lunch and drink bottle.

Henri Matisse, one of the undisputed masters of 20th century art, was a French artist, known for his use of colour and his fluid original style. In his later life he became ill and turned to cut out art and collage instead of painting.

Inspired by this artist we will be looking at organic shapes and practicing our scissor skills to create a colourful collage artwork.
