YAY just picked up this years multiflora (summer bush) honey from the extraction plant - all 40kilos of it - not bad for 3 boxes - clever bees

For those who are putting water out for the birds and finding that the bees are drowning because they need water too, I am trying this. Fill a deep water container (helps to avoid evaporation) float some open pine cones in the water. I have set up a few around here and will monitor to see if it works. The bees will hopefully be able to cling to the cones to get to the water.

New decade, we have just re-queened all the hives. Gosh they have had a great summer season. It is most important that we ensure they have access to plenty of water in this dry weather. My water lily pond is drying out so I have made an artificial pond with artificial water lilies floating on the top for them to land on while gathering water
