Four lakefront lodges in New Zealand I’d send my honeymooners and luxury travel couples to without hesitation. Each earns its place for a different reason.
Lake Tarawera, Rotorua
Tucked into native bush on a volcanic lake. Nine suites, total quiet, and the kind of stillness that resets your nervous system before you’ve finished your first coffee.
Lake Pukaki
That turquoise water. Aoraki/Mt Cook on the horizon. A bathtub with this view! What more could you want.
Queenstown
Twenty minutes from town but a world away. With stunning mountain and lake views, and a kitchen that takes dinner very seriously. My pick when couples want the best of both action and relaxation.
Glenorchy
A remote location. Schist and timber, big fires, lake glass-flat at dawn. Forty minutes past Queenstown into Lord of the Rings country. Stay three nights minimum, you will want them.
Different lodges, all answer the same question: Where in New Zealand is actually worth it? These are.
Save this one for the planning stage to build into your New Zealand itinerary.
